Great Service Bad Food. I live in this neighborhood and was so excited to try this place. I have eaten at most of the places located in this area and really have never been disappointed. I love food and will try anything! Well I was excited and love the visual of this place to. I was greeted and sat immediately, then greeted by an awesome waiter. I had ordered the special trout with wasabi potato's, calamari and my friend had a chicken dish and we both had Iced tea. The trout literally tasted like dirt and the potato's were way to hot (and I love hot) the calamari was so greasy and the chicken wasn't seasoned and dry, even the iced tea had an acidic flavor. The bill was around a $100 for this food witch we barely touched and our waiter was so fab I could not leave him a great tip (not his fault). We left and went across the street to Mee Noodle and had a great meal for a lot less. Every time I go by the Eatery I always say there's the worst food in NYC. lol
thoroughly enjoyed!. I went for dinner there with a friend sometime in Dec. It was a cold, wet night, and when we walked in the place was busy but cozy. We had a reservation so we got seated promptly. Our waiter was very friendly & had great suggestions; he was a sweetheart & very attentive. Had fries & the tuna tartare (interesting & pretty tasty) for appetizers & they give this complimentary crispy puffed fried thing that tastes exactly like a type of indian papad--yum! I got the mac & jack as an entree which was great, my friend had the meatloaf which was good (and the mashed potatoes that came with were excellent!). Definitely enjoyed the comfort food, and the bill was less than I expected. Had no room for drinks or dessert but I would go back to try the other interesting items on the menu. In fact i just went there today for brunch with friends, it was very crowded but apparently we were the right size group and got seated right away. I had the stuffed french toast, which was delicious, and all my friends' dishes were as well. We left very full & happy! My waistline can't take going there too often but i def recommed the place!
Regarding KWANI09 review.
I Understand if you had a very bad experience at Eatery, hey they cant always please everyone.
im a regular and Staff/food/drinks are always amazing.
I do have to say, were is city search?how can you allow someone to actually right a servers name?
Dont you think that the person in question could actually lose here job because of the review? You should have rules to protect the servers info.
Remember there are always those people that are just bitter and there is nothing that you ca do in order to please then! hey i know i worked as a server in my past and i think that we all know that there are some people that are better just staying home.
point of view, the review makes no sense and the person responsible for the review is one bitter person. to go to the point of stating the servers name is uncalled for!
Next time just think twice before you act.
Karma is a bitch and who knows?
One of my favorite dining experiences in NYC. My friend and I went to Eatery for dinner the other night and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The service and staff were very accommodating and frequently checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed for a good dining experience. I loved the Mac & Jack entree, and my friend really enjoyed the Asian Chicken Salad dish. Both of us could not say enough good things about the Cran-Apple martinis. I will return to Eatery and bring more friends with me next time!
Nothing to write home about & service was AWFUL!!. We went to Eatery while on a weekend getaway, after reading the reviews on citysearch & noticing they had been ranked on Zagat's list. However, once we arrived the place wasx crowded, which in essence would lead you to believe the food was something to talk about. However, we were very dissatisfied once seated to not only wait 20 mins or more just to place our order, but also getting a waitress who lacked the ability to be personable at all costs (Abby). Once placing our drink and meal orders. The drinks were horrible, couldn't get a simple bloody mary right and the sangria was so...watered down it was like a light juice. Once our food arrived 30 mins. later we were not impressed at all. $80 or so later, we came to the conclusion this is a place that is all hype and nothing to back it up. A waste of time & patience. Go to the local restauranti instead- better service, drinks & food!!! NEVER AGAIN !!!
Great brunch place - could improve server knowledge!.
Loved the food, but not the service/reservation system!
We ordered poached eggs and French Toast, and the portions were huge! Prices were reasonable too, especially for a highly-rated, hip New York restaurant.
Made a reservation online wherein I was told 11:30 wasn't available but 11:00 was so we rushed to get there. Funnily, it was half-empty when we got there at 11:15. Not sure what to make of that.
My gripe with the service was the server's knowledge. I had specifically asked for no bananas in my French Toast, and the server said sure. Minutes later, my first bite of chocolate-stuffed French Toast, and there it was - banana! To make it worse, the server now said it was part of the pureed mixture inside so could not be removed. I doubt they came up the recipe since I had placed the order, so shouldn't the server have known that?
Great food. I really liked the food. Everything we ordered was good, from the barbeque flatbread appetizer to Mac & Jac. Food is VERY filling and has lots of cheese, so you might want to order a vegetable side, like sauteed spinach, to balance it out.
Great place. Great food, Great service. every time i come to eatery i get the consistency of the outstanding service i will be back
great!!.
Stopped in here and tasted their homemade pasta- TO DIE FOR!!
Next time I want to cook Italian food for guests- this is where I will get my supplies.
SO FRESH, so Tasty and such HIGH QUALITY.
What more could you want for an Italian cheese/pasta shop?
