Before "The Sopranos," this long-running off-Broadway show joyfully exploited the stereotype of the melodramatic Italian. In an interactive mock wedding, audience members can flirt with the sleazy caterer, dance with the bridesmaids or chat with a Camcorder-wielding gay boyfriend. It's all make-believe. For the price of the ticket, you've temporarily joined another family.

The cast has successfully catalogued every Italian-American cliche from the bride's metallic blue fingernails to the Italian Mafioso father of the groom. Naturally, frolicking and fighting ensue--all played with a naturalism one senses these actors live for. Having spread to other American cities, the show should be an inspiration to culturally investigative theatermakers (with a penchant for participation) everywhere. For tonight in NYC, feel free to get lewd on the dance floor since Father's passed out at the end of the bar.

AWESOME SHOW!!
I've heard so much about this show through the years, and finally went this weekend!! WOW~ Great fun, hilarious interaction, funny story line and the food was good too! Only question was, why did iw ait so long to see this NY classic!! Go see it - it's been in NY for 18 years for a reason!
