CityQuest Editorial Review
Overview
James Earl Jones narrates a punchy script that visits the old hangouts of Madonna, Bob Dylan, Tom Paine, ee cummings, Allen Ginsburg and even notorious recluse J.D. Salinger.
Stops include the hanging elm tree, where prisoners were hung by the dozens, and the old speakeasy Chumley's Pub, where the term "to 86" was coined. Other landmarks: Stonewall, the 4th St. Basketball courts and the Blue Note. Interspersed with Mr. Jones' dignified musings are readings by Cummings and Edna St. Vincent, as well as guest narration by Joan Rivers, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. and Oscar Peterson.
