Tips for Prive Salon

I have been going to Jorge Luis at Prive ever since I moved to the city four years ago. It was by a recommendation I went there and have not been anywhere else since. It is so hard to find consistent talent, even in NYC but Jorge does it. I have never left with anything but amazing blonde highlights and a blowout. He is the utmost professional and on the cutting edge of style. Jorge always knows the right shade for your skin tone and cut for your face!

If you want amazing color you must see Jorge Luis. It is so difficult to find a stylist who can do natural looking highlights on dark hair, and Jorge's work is flawless every time! I don't even need to tell him what to do; I completely trust my hair in his gifted hands. He is a master at assessing your skin tone and complimenting it beautifully. I moved away from the city 2 years ago, but would never consider seeing anyone else. He also does an amazing cut. He creates the perfect shape and NEVER takes off too much. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment ASAP!

Jorge Luis is the king of Blondes. Seriously. I have been everywhere, tried almost everyone and I am so happy to say that I am done. I will never go to another colorist/stylist again. Jorge is just gifted--no matter what the color, he will nail it the very first time. He did my highlights using the balyage method and I cannot beleive the difference it makes. He is amazing and his color is impeccable. He also has a very good sense of style and really knows what works. The only problem is trying to go get an appointment--lol--make sure you call in advance as he is in such high demand :)

AVOID STEVEN. AVOID STEVEN!! I went to him to JUST get my roots done. I have hi lites done and get them done uptown. I just had gotten back from a caribbean vacation so my hi lites were a bit lighter however when I sat in Steven"s chair I CLEARLY explained that I knew my hi lites were on the light side but I loved what the sun did to them and I DID NOT WANT THEM TOUCHED I JUST WANTED MY ROOTS DONE. He proceeded to agree with me and that "he would just blend everything in" and I again asked to "not touch the hi lites as I liked how they looked" Well Steven took it upon himself to do my roots and make my hi lites disappear so when I was done I was the same color ALL OVER AS MY ROOTS.

I couldn't believe it, he knew I was upset and he proceeds to tell me that " my hair looks a lot better this way" I told him I was clear that I didn't want my hi lites touched and that I didn't want this. This guy clearly doesn't want to to do what THE CLIENT WANTS but does what he wants to do. He never apologized and had the audacity to tell me that my hi lites still looked the same as when I walked in !! DO NOT GO THIS INEXPERIENCED PERSON WHO HAILS FROM OREGON AND HAS NO CLUE NOR LISTENS TO HIS CLIENT.

GO TO TAMI. I've been eyeing Prive for years now, and finally I lucked out and bought a Gilt Certificate to the salon at the beginning of April. I recently had my appointment and was booked with Tami. From the minute I met her we hit it off. She sat and listened to me for almost 10 minutes explaining my hair (I have long, curly hair, that in NY Summers is no picnic) and what I was looking to achieve. She looked through my pictures of ideas patiently, promised she would "Sort me out", and got to work. Ryan who washed and massaged my hair set the mood for my experience (You're the best, Ryan!). When I got back to Tami she worked her magic, and I walked out of there with supermodel hair, I kid you not. She cut my locks wet, then went through and did another cleanup after my hair was dry. Hair technique aside, you will not meet anyone sweeter, more down to earth and easier to talk to. Tami, who recently moved from LA, comes highly recommended in my book, and with her long list of celebrity clients after an appointment with you will leave her chair feeling like you're on the A-list as well. I am going to book Tami again in June for a trim and a blowout for a special function. Tami, welcome to NYC!

Jorge Luis and his amazing color!. I was in NYC a few weeks ago and while I was there I had the amazing experience of sitting in Jorge Luis' chair.

My best friend has been a client of his for YEARS and she has the most AMAZING color. It's a beautiful blonde. I asked her if she could get me an appointment with him while I was in town and I am so happy that he had time for me ( he actually stayed late for me ).

When I came in ... my color had much to be desired ... he painted gorgeous carmel/ gold highlights throughout my hair and it's the most AMAZING color! I'm not exactly sure what he did but my hair is the shiniest it has been in YEARS! He also gave me a fantastic cut and style!

Not only is Jorge amazing at what he does ... he is a very nice and fun person! I can't wait to see him again!

Awesome Stylist. I have been to some of the best salons in New York and San Francisco and I have to say the best hair stylist is Patricia at Prive. As a beauty industry executive, how you look is essential. I get great compliments about my hair which is a true endorsement. I’d say she is more like a creative artist, and being a Brit, she really gets it. If you you want a quick cut, don’t go to Patricia, she gives individualized attention and takes her time, even a simple cut can last up to 90 minutes, so she’s into quality not quantity which is so rare these days. You feel pampered while she is doing your hair, and her focus is totally on your hair. She’ll meet with you first, find out who you are, what you want you and all the while making mental notes, before your hair is washed. Has an incredible eye with great technical expertise, and that she has developed over many years after extensive training from Vidal Sassoon and working with John Sahag. So yes, she gives a “dry cut” most of the time and for those of you who don’t know what that is - it is the best type of cut you can get - and so few know how to do it. Now I really don’t have anything against the young stylists just starting out, but why take a chance - my hair is to important to take a gamble. Her hair cuts are easy to care for and yes, your hair looks just as good everyday as when it was first cut. The only down side is that she is a little pricey, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. There are so many great salons in NYC that may have a higher profile than Prive - but if you’re getting your haircut by the “salon’s celebrity hair stylist” you may not get a great cut, after all, its not the salon, but the stylist that’s doing your hair!

Lionel Renard. Lionel Renard used his magic and was able to grasp the style I didn't know I was looking for.

From long hair to a short edgy yet elegant haircut, I came out of this salon a new "me"...a few highlights to enhance it all...never had as many compliments, a real ego boost :)

Bonus: Sexy humble french man with great conversation!!

Works great for bi-coastals : NY/ LA

Jorge Luis. Beautiful salon in the heart of SoHo. Jorge Luis was absolutely wonderful! He listened to what I wanted and made suggestions according to my face, hair texture and the look I was going for. The highlights he gave me are gorgeous- even other well known stylists have admired my hair noting how great the highlights look!! They look very natural and have enhanced my look- exactly what I wanted!! I highly recommend him!!

Great place for RALAX. Prive Salon from Manhattan, their staff is Very professional. They listen what you want, they give you their opinion, everything and everybody works perfect there. I went to Cosmetics, and I had a very Good facial, there is a girl very sweet, and worm, Elena is her name, she works Saturdays and Sundays, but she know very well what she do. She did very well her job and I am so happy. I am planning to go again for waxing and for facial but I will request only her. I trust her. I have only good word about Prive Salon. Thanks them.
