Until recently, I'd frequent the Tribeca Tavern for a few cocktails after work. Initially, it was a place of enjoyment- happy hour until 7 PM, great music selection and interesting people to chat with. However, happy hour is now from 5-6PM, and drinks are ridiculously overpriced (I was charged $9 for a watered down Jameson's). Mixed drinks are $8 and up; beer is $5 & up. The internet jukebox is constantly taken over by the Cheech Marin looking bartender, who loads it with tons of country music (if you're into country music, then this is the place for you). Once a place for young professionals to unwind after work, itÂ’s now the gathering place for barely legal college students (The Art Institute is a few blocks away). The service has gone downhill. The wait time for a drink is about 20 minutes, which is partially due to the sophomoric "Cheech" wannabe bartender, who spends more time gossiping vociferously about every patron, than he does pouring a drink. Despite the neon sign screaming "Eath & Drink" lunch has only recently made an appearance, being served from 12-3 PM. The food is typical pub food. Want a hot meal? Go someplace else. If you're looking for drama, overpriced drinks & gossip, well then this is the place for you . If not, and you're just looking to unwind- skip this place. There are a few places around the vicinity I'd check out instead.

In a time where money is low so are these prices. The happy hour is exceptional. pitchers are only $10. For a pretentious downtown area this bar retains a exceptional beer list and a great food menu for very moderate prices. The staff is fast and friendly. The crowd was very diversified, made you feel right at home. One of the best beer selections in NYC. Also one of the only places that serves food past 2am.

I admit it was a busy happy hour....but we were served our food and the server never came back... the fries were cold, sandwiches mediocre and overpriced. Beer selection good but not exceptional for NYC... i wouldn't recommend anyone order anything but beer...
