Editorial Review for Bikram Yoga NYC – by Drew Pisarra
The Scene
Cast members of Broadway shows not only take classes here, they teach here as well. Which explains why you're likely to observe a group of impressively in-shape students dripping sweat as they go through the asanas most afternoons. And with the main studio's long, narrow runway shape, you won't have any problem finding your reflection in the mirrors that line one side. (The quaint box-like studio upstairs is used solely for beginner classes of 10 or less.)
The Services
As co-owner Jennifer Lobo puts it, "Bikram is like Starbucks in that you know what you're going to get." No matter where you go, you'll find the same series of 26 poses, a room heated to 100 degrees and (perhaps most thankfully of all) no chanting, no props and no headstands. Furthermore, the practice tends to attract a larger percentage of men than other yogas, because you're guaranteed a good sweat.

Insider Tips
Feel Good, Do GoodThis studio cares about artists. Not only does it offer discounts for those with AFTRA, SAG or Equity membership, but every Friday at 11:30am, the studio has a donations-only class, all proceeds of which go to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
The Early BirdTo encourage students to come in the mornings, Bikram Yoga NYC offers discounted morning classes at all its studios except the one on 72nd Street.
Multiple BenefitsYou can use your class cards at any of the studio's four locations--Midtown, Soho, the Upper West Side or the Flatiron district.
Mat RentalThe rental fee is high, so you're better off buying your own if you're planning on returning. Locker rental is available to store it once you've made that commitment.
