Not so secret anymore, this gem of a bar in the Meatpacking District is hidden behind a couple of completely unmarked apartment building doors. Once you're inside, savor the sweet digs, decorated in subtly striped wallpaper and sleek hideaway furnishings--including a white wraparound banquette in the small side room and a handsome bed. Settle in with a drink (the Pimm's Cup with a cucumber slice is a good choice), select from among several types of bruschetta and other rich dishes and luxuriate in the feeling of discovery. The secluded date-impressing upstairs lounge may require reservations, but the sleek downstairs bar--outfitted with nouveau wood paneling, cushiony stools and a smoking DJ roster--is open to walk-ins.

On June 15 my wife and I went to check out DJ Premier. We were super excited to check him out and when we got there at 11:00pm, the place was closed and locked up! There were a few disgruntled people hanging out around there so I asked them what was up and they said someone from APT came out and told them that they had to close for the night because the dishwasher broke! HUH!?!?! I suspect that there were other reasons they were closed - like a health code violation. The city has been crackin down on clubs but they don't want to let people know. We were so dumbfounded that they were closed that we called the number (still standing outside the door) and someone answered and said "We're closed. Come back tomorrow."! Like I was about to waste my time and money again! I actually got off of work to check out DJ Premier and took an hour train ride down to the meatpacking district!! So lame!! APT is so lame that they can't even post on their website or AT LEAST put a sign on the door saying they are closed - you have to ask people on the street what is up. I have been there about 5 times before and it was cool with great DJs but after this, I will never go there again. There are enough other places that are cool that care about their customers.

I would reccomend going to this club on Wednesday nights!!! I know....its a week day for you people who work BUT it will be worth it BC everybody else in the club on a WED. is in the same situation and sacrifice the sleep for the GREAT MUSIC!!!! And its all bc of DJ Rich MEdina!!! I went this club with a friend who goes faithfully every Wed. and knows people who work at the club (maybe thats why I didnt have a problem at the door like others have had) but we got there particularly early...so i would suggest first timers to go early ....the first level is a nice spot to lounge and have a glass of wine with a group of friends you are trying to get to know better...BUT downstairs is definitely for the single people who want to dance and enjoy GREAT MUSIC....NEW...and CLASSIC hip hop to OLD SCHOOL songs like a track that your parents would listen to...like the original 'Juicy' .....not to mention a touch of Jill Scott....THe CROWD was a great mix of cute ladies from all races with a trendy yet casual style......you'll also see your average white boy to your European to your reggie lover to your classic 'dope' boy..overall, classy and chill crowd....It can get crowded down stairs but the MUSIC is sooo DOPE you wont even care...WEDNESDAY NIGHTS!!!! its worth it!!! I have gone to a few clubs in NYC but this was BY FAR the BEST CLUB EXPERIENCE I've had EVER!!! Key to having a good time ANYWHERE...find a GREAT DJ....and FOLLOW HIM where ever he spins!!! DJS make all the difference!!!!

The neighborhood has many fun, new clubs and bars, however APT is not one of them. Firstly, APT has over the top security measures, which I appreciated at first, until a basic body and bag search turned into an inappropriate frisk, and accusations of criminal intent! They confiscated and would not return my spare cell phone battery, deeming it "dangerous"! Some guy, whom the bartender told me was a regular, rudely shoved me while heading to the bathroom. When he was urged to apologize, he touched me improperly. The drinks were sort of expensive (~$12), too. The bouncer told me cops came into the place to investigate something earlier, and I saw FDNY inside. This place isn't safe or fun, management and employees rude and unseasonable, and I have filed a formal complaint. I suggest you don't visit this place, especially when it's surrounded by many fine places.
