The Scene – Philippe Starck meets Shanghai. The minimalist decor is accented by lit-from-behind red and white walls and a wraparound mirror. A large seafood tank flanks the back wall. Downstairs is more tranquil than upstairs, where multigenerational families with lots of kids tend to hold sway. – – The Food – Vegetarian dishes are as flavorful--and more surprising--than meat creations. Don't miss the sauteed fresh soy beans with pickled vegetables, an unfortunate name for a gorgeous toss of edamame (like buttery baby limas), homemade noodles and fresh herbs. Garlicky…

Editor's Tips

Look Good:
As soon as you sit down ask for extras of the delicious little homemade dipping sauces--they go fast, and you may never see your waiter again.
The Extras:
Asterisked dishes are the chef's specials, and are especially good for groups.
ambiance
80.0% positive
  1. Excellent dumplings served amid clean, chic decor.
  2. Service is good and ambience is cute.
  3. The wait here is long for dim sum, but if you don't like sharing tables or if the typical raucous dim sum atmosphere is not your gig, this is a sleek (for Chinatown) alternative.
  4. You get a pot of delicious jasmine tea with your order and dining room has very fun modern decor, a little like sitting in a Target comercial.
  5. The ambience is very good for Chinatown.

  1. The shrimp noodles have a great noodle to shrimp ratio.
  2. t is the freshest cleanest most beautiful light and yet filling food.
  3. My favorite is crab meat dumplings.
  4. The mango shrimp "rolls" are great too, but piping hot.
  5. Let me preface this review by saying that I am a dim sum novice, and that while I really enjoyed the dumplings, it's not a food I will most likely seek out much in the future.
  6. The waiters friendly and we didn't wait forever to get our food.
  7. very authentic, nice meeting spot!
  8. Instead of the copious, fresh dumplings and bite-sized treats we were expecting, we got greasy bones of meat, heavy buns and inedible dumplings.
  9. We tried several dumplings but the standouts for me were the crab meat and the chives and shrimp dumplings - delicious!
  10. But, all the other food was mediocre at best.
  11. Stick to dimsum, not super overpriced noodles.
  12. Excellent avant-garde chinese cuisine.
  13. An ideal har gow should have a delicate sheath of skin with just enough thickness to lend texture that supports the rich, briny flavor of the shrimp.
  14. You get a pot of delicious jasmine tea with your order and dining room has very fun modern decor, a little like sitting in a Target comercial.
  15. So instead of being able to see the food and pick which dishes you want impulsively as the ladies push the carts by you, now you have to order off a menu.
  16. The mushroom dumplings are excellent - only drawback is that they really should not put celery in there.
  17. The food was pretty good but its just away overpriced.
  18. The best time to go during weekend is before 11am, so you can take your time to enjoy their food.
  19. Walked in on Chinese New Year Sunday late in the afternoon, around 5 or 6 -- seating was not a problem & the dim sum was deliciously fresh -- very likely a by-product of their not using carts.
  20. To be fair; the food I ordered was good.
  21. It's a little odd at first to order dim sum off a checklist, but the result is fantastic since the food is made to order.
  22. also like shu-mai, which comes with 2 shrimp and 2 pork filling.
  23. Calling this place good would be like having dirty-water hot dog stand food your whole life, going out to Applebee's and calling it gourmet.
  24. The steamed chicken buns are fantastic.
  25. There are some Chinese restaurants that I wish I spoke Chinese to order real authentic Chinese food, but not at this place.
  26. The one vegetarian entree (Abby's treasure) was actually quite a surprise - it was delicious and had wintermelon covering an assortment of fresh mushrooms and vegetables.
  27. This is place is great - exotic, interesting food at very cheap prices.
  28. Don't know if we caught the restaurant on a bad night or if we ordered the wrong things, but our food was terrible and the service wasn't much better.
  29. Dishes are very tasty, but light and memorable.

  1. they have large menu and very friendly wait staff.
  2. The service was terrible although I saw a lot of fawning over the tourists.
  3. No, we weren't expected to be treated like royalty, and we know how some restaurants are just no frills, but even factoring that in, the customer service was still bad.
  4. The staff was great with the girl who sat across from me.
  5. They offered great service and if I am ever in the mood for dim sum, I will head back to dim sum Go Go.
  6. Don't know if we caught the restaurant on a bad night or if we ordered the wrong things, but our food was terrible and the service wasn't much better.
  7. Everything is written/explained both in Chinese and English, and waiters are fairly attentive - if you are not sure what you've ordered, they'd tell you right away.
  8. The waiters friendly and we didn't wait forever to get our food.

Excellent Dim Sum

by gaiamcraft at Citysearch

I like to consider myself somewhat of a Dim Sum pro, having tried so many places for so many years on both coasts, not counting unfortunately in Asia.

This is not traditional Dim Sum - there are no carts. Which for me takes away from the experience, but the dim sum is made to order and is hot and fresh and delicious.

The duck dumplings are divine little pocket morsels of goodness. The mango shrimp "rolls" are great too, but piping hot. The shrimp noodles have a great noodle to shrimp ratio. The mushroom dumplings are excellent - only drawback is that they really should not put celery in there. The steamed chicken buns are fantastic.

I always come here with a large group and no one has ever left disappointed. This place gets really packed on the weekends, so come before noon.

  • Pros: dim sum, price
  • Cons: no carts

Better than most

by VeeVee at Citysearch

I like this place because it is not like the other places which can be really crowded. The waiters friendly and we didn't wait forever to get our food. And you can get dim sum late whereas some traditional places don't serve it after a certain time.

  • Pros: Friendly staff, good dim sum
  • Cons: none really

Great Dim Sum!

by TheTripChick at Citysearch

Let me preface this review by saying that I am a dim sum novice, and that while I really enjoyed the dumplings, it's not a food I will most likely seek out much in the future.

We tried Dim Sum Go Go with a group and had a great time..it was around Chinese New Year and the dragons were out and about, blessing shops and Dim Sum Go Go was one of the spots the dragons stopped. We tried several dumplings but the standouts for me were the crab meat and the chives and shrimp dumplings - delicious!

They offered great service and if I am ever in the mood for dim sum, I will head back to Dim Sum Go Go.

Overpriced & Mediocre, Good for Late Day Dim Sum Craving ONLY

by changmino200 at Citysearch

If you are Chinese, I would pass on ever considering this place. After years of reviews complimenting this place, we finally thought to check it out. The dim sum is very good and great that you can have it late in the day. But, all the other food was mediocre at best. Even the white rice left a lot to be desired, it seemed barely warm and we had to ask for it three times. The service was terrible although I saw a lot of fawning over the tourists. I will never go again and I will not recommend it to anyone. Anywhere else in Chinatown would offer you a better meal.

  • Pros: Dim sum at night
  • Cons: Terrible other food and service
