I Got Bed Bug Bites from Hotel, Terrible Customer Service. I woke up with bed bug bites while I was staying at New York Marriott Downtown from 9/6-9/9. I showed the manager the bites in a row on my leg, and I made several attempts to rectify this situation, directly with the hotel as well as with employees at the corporate level in the claims department. They denied the bed bug problem, and offered no help, no concern for the cleanliness or the reputation of Marriott hotels- just another unconcerned response citing that bed bugs are common in hotels in New York. They offered no compensation for the damages I incurred (I had to throw away much of my luggage, and nice clothes in order to try and get rid of the bed bugs.) The fact that Marriott would not resolve this problem is unacceptable. I spent $1,000 for my short stay and I was very polite to the staff, simply voicing my concerns, and they responded back rudely and defensively. It is disappointing that Marriott has such little respect for their customers, but what is much more concerning is how low their standards of health practice are. The NY Health Department is currently investigating the hotel.
