What People Are Saying About Kittichai
Featured Review

Sleek, hip and exotic, Kittichai feels like a Thai resort in miniature, with candles floating around the pool that's the centerpiece of the dining room. The guests, like those of the Thompson Hotel above, are usually young, pretty and moneyed, and kick back with cocktails in the cabana-like booths before dinner. Said dinner will be Thai, sort of: Thai-spiced chocolate baby back ribs, fried rock shrimp with a palm sugar-tamarind sauce or banana spring rolls with burnt honey ice cream may not be native to Bangkok, but they shouldn't be missed.
Editor's Tips
- When to Go:
- On Monday nights, the $45 fondue is a steal: the spiced broth is made from scratch, and the spread you get to cook in it includes fresh salmon, shrimp, squid, pork and beef (and a plethora of Asian veggies)--and is all-you-can-eat.
- What to Drink:
- Definitely, cocktails: the array of exotic Asian ingredients on hand in the kitchen--ginger, lemongrass, coconut etc--makes for a stellar drink list. The wine list offers a few options by the glass, and most bottles range from $35 to $60.
- The Extras:
- Warm night? Head upstairs to the Thompson Hotel's rooftop bar for a drink.
Enjoy the tuna starter!

Cool, romantic and Asian setting. The tuna tar-tare appetizer is so minuscule it's not even worth ordering, but has a cute presentation. I had the curry pork and it was pretty decent. The egg omelet appetizer is good as well.
Overall it's just way overpriced for the quality of food you receive, it's definitely more about the swanky atmosphere there.
Not what I expected.

We tried the winter restaurant week menu so most of the choices were not the same as from their regular menu.
For the appetizer, we ordered the pulled chicken (very good) and roasted eggplant and peppers (not so good).
For our entrees, we went with the coconut prawns (too salty) and the grilled hanger skirt steak. The steak's medium well was cooked more to medium. The dish wasn't bad. A complimentary bowl a rice was provided. We ordered an additional side of taro croquette with spicey sweet sauce. It was more sweet than spicey.
The desserts were the best--banana spring roll with melted honey ice cream and coconut creme caramel. The atmosphere is romantic and zen-like, come for that. The food is give-or-take.
Amazing!

The food at Kittichai was sublime. Some of the best food I have ever eaten. My wife had the vegetable stir fry and I had the pork tenderloin. We both ordered the Jasmine rice and Berry coolers. Literally, one bite in and we knew we were in foodie heaven. It was absolutely delicious. I usually go to great restaurants and enjoy the food but rarely do I absolutely love it. I did at Kittichai. The decor was fabulous, modern and serene. We went for lunch. Can't wait to go for dinner! As the rating says, run don't walk.
Fancy Elegant Thai Restaurant

I got a 30% off coupon online and I couldn't wait to share with a bunch of my ladies. Kittichai is a gorgeous restaurant with an indoor pond with floating lotus and candles! I think the atmosphere is so romantic and zen. Unfortunately, a pond equals some mosquitos. Thankfully I told the waitress and the restaurant offered to buy us a bottle of spray for us.
So let's talk about their food. We got some beef salad and fried popcorn shrimp to start and they were excellent. But I have to say everything here is pretty small and pricey. Then we each got our own entree. I ordered the curry short rib and it was very creamy and the meat just fell apart; it was that tender! Did I mention you have to order the rice here? They only gave you a tiny bit too.
The dessert was good. We got the chocolate cake and we all shared. I was pretty full by the end and thanks God I got a 30% off coupon. Otherwise, I would feel robbed.
- Pros: Elegant cuisine, cute atmosphere
- Cons: Mosquitos by the pond!
Cool place, bad food

Went there for a friend's birthday a few days ago. The waitress asked if we're celebrating a birthday because she saw a wrapped gift and we said "yes" she said "ok". She didn't wish him a happy birthday nor did she put a candle on the desert. But that's not the problem. The problem was with the fish that we ordered. It was completely burned! We had to explain it to the waiter in detail that it was completely burned and the waiter was hesitant to take it back. After waiting another 20 min we were brought chicken, which was dry but eatable. The restaurant week special is a joke. We paired it with 3 glasses of wine and they brought out 1/5 of the glass all 3 times. The place is nicely decorated, but that's about it! It gets 2 stars for cool decorations and 1 star for food. I would not recommend!
