“This was one of the best nights that we had in NYC, such great live music, a fun crowd and the appetizers are all tasty, spicy and delicious.”
“asked our waiter to place a candle on my sister's dessert so we could all sing "Happy Birthday" which is typically done at most restaurants without a problem.”
“The service is excellent and the drinks were off the hook!”
“The food is great and the bands that play are just as good.”
“(Note that the menu states that each patron must order 2 tapitas or 1 platos.)”
“The staff was not friendly, not a good place for conversation seeing as how a latin band is playing music and the food is extremely over-priced!”
“have never come back to Son Cubano after that experience, too many good restaurants here to waste your time on this one.”
“Everything on the menu is delicious and the service is great.”
“the service is a bit inept, but the food is good, the room is nice looking, the prices are reasonable, and it is very convieniently located to go out afterwards.”
“Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but I wouldn't recommend it on a weekend and don't expect a quick service.”
They are opened!!!. OMG this place is gorgeous! They moved to 544W 27th Street. Bigger, better, great sound system. Will be going tonight with a group. stay tuned
BEST OF CUBA!. looking forward to the newest entity opening! The food, sangria, music, decor and ambience speaks for itself..i LOVE this place ;) my favorite college reunion hotspot ;)
Turn into a night club to disturb the residents.
People. I suggest everybody to think one more time before making a reservation to Son Cubano, West New York NJ.
Before opening, they promised all the residents that it will be a family restaurant and they will close at 11pm. Guess what. After 11pm, it turns to a night club and they run the business until 2 - 3am. The residents including infants and senior citizen haven't had a good sleep over 2 months but they don't care. Infants and kids are crying in the middle of night due to the noise. I'm not kidding.
The residents have no problem with them as long as they run the business the way they promised in the beginning.
Shame Shame Shame
Pretty bad.... move on. I remember going to Son Cubano when it first opened and it was soooo great, both the drinks and food. Recently went with a friend and all around was pretty bad.... the food was all fried and tasteless, drinks were horrible even when tried fixing it and the service was rude. For quite an expensive bill ... the service, food, drinks, quality did not meet up to even the standards. Music was deafening loud.
son cubano nj. just at the nj location on the waterfront last night. place was rocking. they did an amazing job with decor. though i miss the latin flavor of nyc its a more upscale look and beautifully done. the staff was helpful and friendly. and the food was great. i had the whole red snapper that was stuffed with rice and just divine. a must visit when in nj!!
wallet stolen, manager disgusting. I had a great time at son cubano last night until it was time to pay for my beer. I had set my bag down for a couple of minutes (big mistake) and when i went to get my wallet it was missing. No one wanted to help me. The really short manager (who also works at Flor de Sol) was very sarcastic and treated me like the degenerate that he is. I said "the least you could do is get a flashlight and look on the floor where i was standing, the least." He was not helpful at all. The bouncers were joined in on his fun until i reminded them they are risking their lives to protect that short man who could care less if anything happens to them. Apparently that knocked sense into them and they became very sympathetic. Either way I filed a police report - ya never know. I will never go to this place again and gladly tell everyone I know about my experience. IT's unfortunate because he also works at Flor de Sol (i'm a regular) and now that has been ruined for me as well. I work in Tribeca and trust that I will tell everyone in the neighborhood about what happened.
Not impressed. I wasn't impressed with the food or the service. I went with my husband on a sat night. We're both Hispanic and the music was loud even for us. Around 9pm they had a band and that was much better. I had the pernil, my husband el churrasco. The pernil was tasty but the churrasco was bland. The service was ok. For the amount of money that we spent I was expecting a lot more. Next time we'll eat at Cuba on Thompson street where the Cuban food is more authentic and the service is great.
terrible. maybe i went on a bad night, and maybe you don't go there to eat, but it was very bad. there was a live band (I've heard the live bands are pretty good there) which was so terribly bad we had to move to a different table to get away from the noise. the food was so mediocre...and ridiculously expensive for what you get. i just ate at versailles in miami which is extremely cheap by comparison, and 1000% better than son cubano. i would put this thing on death watch. there is no way they are going to be able to make rent.
Love the Music. Well I love going to this place, mainly for its music. I can listen to my classic spanish rock, salsa, cumbia, merengue, bachata samba, hip hop, and even reggae/ reggaeton, even house. Finding a place that plays all of the mentioned genres is hard. The place is narrow and long, so its hard to get around after1am. Bartenders are hot!!!! not to forget nice. (Drinks are kinda expensive, $12 for cocktails, and like $7 beer) Bouncers are usually ok at the door, no frisking and no cover charge. Overall, one of my favs.
Had the BEST Night !!. Wow! Great place..Great music...Great food..People very nice..No problem here....My fiancee & I even met a very nice couple there, we hit it off well, we were talking and dancing the night away...I will def come back here....Peace
