“$5/$10 cover- not so bad, space- long, but narrow, music- decent mix, way too hot temperature wise, can we say A/C?”
Fights, police, shattered glass, dangerous!.
Dangerous!
Noisy!
Fights!
I've seen the police at this place break up fights every time I've visited - seriously! Sometimes arriving more than once a night.
Don't go to the Vudu Lounge unless you want to risk getting hit and physically assaulted by some of the patrons!
Many guests seem outright angry. I've been by the Vudu Lounge a few times and have always witnessed serious fights and shouting. I have not personally been involved in any altercations, but I have seen innocent bystanders and guests be hit (once with a chair!), and I have heard of stabbings and shattered glass. The door-men seem not to care about this violence and let fights continue until the police arrives in patrol cars.
The music may be decent, but I will not be going back to the Vudu Lounge, nor can I recommend any one else going. I prefer going somewhere else where I don't have to look over my shoulder and worry about my friends' safety.
Great Drinks, Great looking people. I came to Vudu Lounge for the first time last friday. I showed up early at 9pm and the party was already in full swing. Turns out they open at 5pm for happy hour. I'll be there this week to take advantage of the two for 1 drinks! The music was awesome. I kept hearing songs I haven't heard in a club for at least 10 years. the dj also had a great selection of new music. My friends and I didn't stop dancing the whole night! I can't wait to come back!
***Awesome Saturday Night Out***. My friends and I celebrated a birthday here last weekend and had a blast even in the snow. Even though there was no cover before midnight on the list because of the weather they let some of our friends in after 12 free. I really like this place especially Saturday nights there is great music, its a great crowd, and super stiff drinks! No need to say we will be back we are there almost every weekend.
An Amazing time with no attitude!.
Last Saturday I met some friends at the Vudu Lounge. Wow, what a great space! This was my first time, in fact I had never heard of Vudu Lounge, but it definately won't be my last time.
The staff was courteous and professional and for a Manhattan nightclub the drink prices were quite reasonable.
The DJ was amazing, and the crowd was completely chill. My friends and I had a great time and we will all be back.
Cool Club on UES. Came here with some coworkers after work last Friday and we had a blast. A cool mixed crowd, good music, good drinks, nice girls. We ended up staying there for 3-4 hours and had a blast dancing. I definitely want to come here late at night and check it out again because i'm sure it get's crazier later on
Unecessary Graphic Images... Why?. I live on UES and enjoy dancing to hip hop and reggaton, so thought I'd check this place out. $5/$10 cover- not so bad, space- long, but narrow, music- decent mix, way too hot temperature wise, can we say A/C? Screen showing baseball game suddenly turned into hardcore girl gone wild montage around 11... It made me and other girls very uncomfortable. Clubs usually cater to getting nice looking women in and hope the guys willing to spend $ will follow, but I will not return to this place after seeing the unecessary measures to which they went to try to be 'hot.' It was just gross. I did not go for a strip club or peep show experience, I just wanted to dance and laugh with friends...
Fun Time Dancing. My friends and I went there on a Thursday, and it was Latin Night... and we are going back because it was such a great time. There was a 10 piece band singing and playing the music. It was like being on vacation. Can't wait to go back
A rare place to dance on the Upper East Side..
The Scene
You may stop and wonder where you are when you see the red ropes outside Vudu, an ex-Soho lounge that has reemerged in unlikely uptown digs. Inside, the lively bar--which leads to a cozy dance floor flanked by couches--relies on little more than an abundance of red lighting and a couple of forbidding-looking masks for ambience, but the hardworking bar staff and solid pop, hip-hop and reggae grooves go the distance.
The Draw
The upbeat, stylish crowd is principally young urban professional, though more diverse than the cookie-cutter clientele of most bars in the vicinity. You won't find any beers on tap, but plenty of bottled brews and top-shelf liquors at typical club prices. With its downtown facade, Vudu brings a taste of pretension, but at least it offers Upper East Siders who want to stay local an alternative to the neighborhood's pubs and frat-boy hangouts.
Had a GREAT time. I threw my boyfriend's surprise birthday party there on Saturday. The manager, Chris, was extremely helpful and the staff was supportive. The atmosphere was fun, there was a flat screen playing sports & girls dancing on the bar. They even threw in free champagne b/c we were a large party. We all LOVE it!!! I would recommend throwing a party there anytime!!!
good time. Its a place where they play a great mix of music, the crowd could be more trendy, but for a place uptown its pretty good
