“ambience and moderate prices all contributed to an outstanding dining experience.”
“Dessert's great with their generous slice of chocolate chocolate cake.”
“The host was aloof; my waitress, though sweet, didn't seem to know the food or the menu very well; and the waiter we flagged over to order our wine seemed as if he had never looked at the wine list before.”
“Served on a fat brioche bun with crispy french fries and cheese oozing out the side-I was a happy camper.”
“Great martini selection, too, always served in a nice frosted glass.”
“overall i think Jane is a great restaurant.”
“can't wait to go back and try the other brunch options (johnny benedict sounds awesome too) although it's going to be very hard to resist those lobster & biscuits.”
“Our waiter was very attentive without being overly obtrusive.”
“The cocktails were fun and the wine list is a good value, but I won't be back.”
“Our waitress was polite and quick.”

Stumbled across this eatery in SoHo and was pleasantly surprised. Great brunch option!
Jane is one classy broad. Jane is one of my favorite places. Even though I eat out quite often and am approaching (or maybe am already in) middle age, the best way to describe Jane is that I feel like a grown up when eat there. The decor is spare and tasteful and the tables are luxuriously far apart from one another (well, for New York City). The food is simple and delicious. The menu changes slightly for the seasons, but I have probably sampled all of it at this point and have never been disappointed. Well, I don't like the apple sausage they have at brunch. But that's the only thing. I usually go for dinner -- the filet mignon, the chicken, the risotto, and even the Jane Burger are all highly recommended. On Sundays, they offer select dinner items for a mere $12. The cocktails are expertly prepared, and they bring the shaker (with extra booze in it) along with your drink. The staff is generally young and attractive, but unexpectedly friendly and competent. If your party lingers, they will never rush you out to turn over the table (another NYC rarity!)
Horrible Service. I just went there for brunch and couldnt believe how horrible the service was. Our server would bring our new drinks but wouldn?t take the empty glasses away, so they were all piled up on the table. Then, we were all finished and our serverwas standing chatting with 3 servers and the bartender for 10 minutes at the bar counter. Two other tables were desperately trying to get their some attention and get the bill. The food was OK, but with all of the great choices in this city, there is no way I go back there.
I AM SHOCKED. while dining at the jane this past weekend i experienced something that i am still in shock over. without the hostess realizing i can hear what she was saying, i listened as she over and over again spoke about many of the customers in the restaraunt. speaking of various customers weight, fashion style, and many other things. i could not believe what i was hearing. it was incredible. 15 year old girls have more common sense then this hostess. i will never be back nor will ever recomend anyone to dine here. food happens to be great which is a shame.
Great hamburger - good service and good atmosphere. Came here as a tourist in Dec 07. We all enjoyed the meal, nice efficient service and overall a lovely restaurant to enjoy a relaxed dinner. I would recommend reservations as it gets very busy on the weekends.
Love Them. I've been to Jane quite a few times, for brunch and dinners. I LOVE their pan seared tuna. It's served rare, and it's very tasty, better than most other restaurants w/in same price range/quality. Each time I go it's a struggle to figure out what to order because I want to eat everything! Their burger is excellent, and their fries are perfect. In addition, their scallops are also good, and their steak salad is great too. Recommended starters are calamari or market salad. Dessert's great with their generous slice of chocolate chocolate cake. It's definitely one of my fav restaurants in the city because it's pretty well rounded, great appetizers, entrees, desserts. Oh, and the service is usually pretty nice too. I've yet to run into a bad waiter/waitress here (knock on wood... seeing how wait staff can be a problem anywhere any time in NY). The only time our food was ever late during brunch, they apologized w/complimentary french toast. We were all too happy to accept. This place is great, it's causal and friendly but has just enough class. Definitely worth a try.
Good food and great service. This is a great neighborhood staple for American cuisine. Their appetizers are great (calamari is excellent) and they have a great burger. Not too many vegetarian options - two pasta options - but they are tasty. They have excellent deserts, and the service staff is always pleasant.
Great variety of dishes. Food here is great! Toasted ricotta gnocchi is UNBELIEVABLE. Goat cheese flatbread also delicious. I normally get take-out, but I actually really like the atmosphere here as well. Only complaint - they only do take-out during the week, and no delivery in the evenings. If I want some of their food on a Sat or Sun, I need to actually eat at the restaurant. If they had daily take-out and/or delivery, I would order food from here more often.
Good brunch food, poor service. I went here on a Sunday for brunch and luckily we made a reservation, otherwise the wait would have been a while. Though our food was tasty I found a hair in my food halfway thru my meal. Yuck. The service was very inexperienced and made small errors throughout our meal. They brought out the wrong side dish with my sandwich - a side salad (which already came with my sandwich) instead of rosemary fries -- which were basically plain ol' french fries without even a hint of rosemary... quite a disappointment. I then had to wait 10min until this was fixed. This was just one of several small, careless mistakes they made.
brunch. went here for sunday brunch and really enjoyed it. they were very busy and we were a group of 3 withe no reservation, so we had to wait about 45 minutes. our waiter was great, very attentive and helpful. I really enjoyed the steak salad and the shrimp ranchero dish.
excellant brunch. This was a wonderful, well priced, nice ambiance and great music for a Saturday morning. The secret here is that you can reserve for brunch which is rare in New York. the steak salad was incredibly tasty and the brioche french toast rich and delicious. i highly recommend for brunch!
