This place will fill up fast, and after dinner there, I know why! The food was wonderful, as was the service. They gave my wife a free salad just because they brought my entree out first by mistake. Great service, great food.

Average Brunch, nothing special. Our little group of four had made reservations for brunch, yet still had to wait 20 minutes for our table. The place was extremely packed and noisy.

The menu consists of your typical brunch fair. I ordered french toast, which was huge but lacked moisture. The fries were average. Nobody really had anything that stood out and doubt they'll return. Overall, there are plenty of other brunch places in the neighborhood with much better food and service. Ignore the hype.

DMANBURGER " Jane Restaurant". DMANBURGER “Jane Restaurant”

March 22, 2010

After a burger tasting planned for a well-known burger haunt fell through, I walked aimlessly and annoyed that my burger craving was postponed and prolonged -”What else is in this area” ? I asked myself ”Minetta Tavern”, “Five Guys” ? Not willing to deal with the waiting and unsure chance of getting a table at Minetta, or needlessly following the hordes of burger reviewers that flock after Five Guys, I was lost for ideas. Reluctantly I decided to expel my idea of a burger mission, and just go to a normal brunch, perhaps giving my arteries a rest -and maybe order a salad? I noticed that there were swarms of people outside Jane, an American bistro and sister restaurant of The Smith, a partnership of Glen Harris and Jeffrey Lefcourt. I asked myself- “Could this have a decent burger”? I quickly scanned the crowded room hoping to catch a glimpse of other burger fanatics nourishing themselves on my unsuspecting prey. I noticed a guy, about to devour this surprisingly gorgeous specimen, and I was sold. I approached the maitre’d and asked for her next available table, then lounged on the front bench basking in the welcomed sunlight that was beating down on the city. The menu at Jane consists of your usual brunch/lunch favorites: Caesar Salad, Eggs Benedict, BLT and Vanilla Bean French Toast, the latter of which is supposedly their signature. The decor is modern contemporary with wide panoramic windows and comfortable banquette’s along each wall, the scene is a retrospect of Soho-fashionistas meets NYC students, with some restaurant savvy tourists thrown in for good measure.

My party and I were seated in the back of the packed dining room. Excitement suddenly came over me that I had found a great new burger place, my hopes of being the first to discover this new burger find, were dashed when I noticed on my handy Google App , that every man and his dog had reviewed the place! Happily there weren’t too many distasteful slurs, so I felt confident that we were in for an unexpected treat. The burger was slated on the menu simply as “Jane Burger” with white cheddar, double smoke bacon, special sauce and fries. After careful interrogation of the waitress, I found out that there was a creamy mayonnaise based jalapeno marmalade and tangy green pickled tomatoes hidden in there also. The burger arrived, and was gargantuan! Served on a fat brioche bun with crispy french fries and cheese oozing out the side-I was a happy camper. My first bite was powered by the smokiness of the bacon, and crispy dill flavor of the pickled tomato. This was a novel and inventive alternative, capturing the flavor of a tomato and a dill pickle together. The beef was %100 ground sirloin, that was dripping with juices which quickly ran down my hands and forearms, like a rapid river. This was good in a way, because it told me that the burger was juicy and full of flavor. However it also told me, that my last bite could likely be dry. The flavor and texture was above average and I enjoyed it immensely, savoring every bite, unfortunately the last few bites were definitely dry, and drained of juices. This tiny detail may seem trivial, but previous giants of the burger world have been known to avoid this paltry dilemma.

Jane restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy good decent brunch fare, while shopping in Soho, or maybe before catching a frou-frou artistically saturated film at the Angelika ? On the weekend expect to wait 10-15 mins. for a table, but if it’s a nice day you can work on your tan, take your mind off the stresses of life, and gawk at the brunch searching masses walk by, undoubtedly on the hunt for something fabulous and ever so popular. Well next time you’re in Soho and on that same hunt, the DMANBURGER say’s “look no further than Jane”.

Best meal on my trip to NY.. We went for an early dinner and sat outside. Lovely if the sun is not too strong. Didn't have to wait for a table at all. They had a great cherry mint julep cocktail. Service was really friendly, attentive, professional. the squash blossoms were awesome. I also had the seared tuna, which was delicious.

Most horrid dinning experience of a life time...Thanksgiving it was not.. I had Thanksgiving there. Seven of us. No gravy, dressing was a bed of brussels sprouts and what tasted like canned turkey over the top. Absolute horrible combination or concoction. No cranberry sauce, and dry dead tasting corn bread before the dinner with no butter and it was cold to complete this mess. Desert was something strange but no pumpkin pie. I might as well have been eating on another planet it was so alien. The Wine was a Napa one and was horrible to boot.

Priceless amount of $750.00. Most horrible experience dinning of a life time...and am being kind.

IDIOTIC HOSTS. We couldn't get a reservation so we put out names down for Brunch and waited ONE HOUR at the bar. We kept checking with the hostess and finally she says "Oh..we called your name already." Shocked, I had been standing at the bar ONE FOOT from her for an hour, they quickly seated us right near the kitchen WHERE WE PROCEEDED TO GET BANGED IN OUR BACKS by waiters and guests. We hastily ordered. Waiter was nice, food very good. Hosts IDIOTS.

Great service, not-so-great food. I always find citysearch reviews to be helpful so I thought I'd give my two cents. We made a reservation for a party of 8 for my birthday on Saturday night. We were seated promptly at a great table. Our server was fun and friendly. He and the bartender turned out to be the best part of the night. The food, everything from the bread to the main course, was decidedly bland. I ordered the organic roasted chicken with mashed potatoes. The chicken I make at home has more flavor. The potatoes were clearly from a box and has the consistency of pudding. I couldn't get enough salt. My boyfriend got the burger and fries. It was a hunk of tasteless meat on bread. I did get a massive piece of chocolate cake to share with the table that was very good, and they brought it out with a festive candle and sang. After dinner we moved to the bar and the bartender was an anomaly: attractive, welcoming and cordial. That's a difficult combination to find in trendier places. He accidentally made a mistake on our bill and comped my friend's drink to make amends. Overall it was a great experience, but go for the atmosphere and service, not for amazing food.

Yay for brunch!. I went here for brunch with 3 girlfriends. We made reservations, so we did not have to wait at all (I would recommend doing so for Sunday brunc). Our waitress was polite and quick. We had our mimosa/bellinis, and she also brought out bread with strawberry butter - SO good. I ordered the creme brulee french toast (which I guess is now vanilla bean?) which was DELICIOUS!

I would def go back here.

Affordable, updated American fare in a stylishly simple Soho locale.. Larger-than-life prints of hillside grasses on the walls lend the space a clean, stylish air--think a Williams-Sonoma in full spring flower. In warmer months, a sidewalk cafe out front invites diners to watch the Soho traffic--both human and automotive--flit by. The New American menu is as much about comfort as it is creativity. Appetizers like toasted ricotta gnocchi in white truffle cream, or the tangy, crispy sesame calamari are a perfect way to start. Entrees may seem to play it safe, but nearly all are perfectly executed--from the grilled pork tenderloin, to the pan roasted cod, to the Jane burger. Save room for dessert: Classics like strawberry shortcake and milk and cookies may be simple, but they're also simply delicious.
