The Scene – One of Soho's more pretentious dining rooms still manages to feel relaxed, whether in the soaring first floor, or on the amber-lit second level, which feels like a warm clubhouse. Dishes come with a recited explanation of their ingredients, and service is flawless. – – The Food – Celebrated chef Fabio Trabocchi's small, daily changing menu leans Italian but borrows from the European tradition. The flavors range from luxurious, as with the quail egg-topped carpaccio, to elegantly rustic--burrata served with Manni olive oil, described by some as the "world's…
Best Italian in NYC
by jananne111
Exquisite, original, complex yet not-too-complex Italian that pleases all the senses and finds undiscovered ones to seduce. The Cappuccino of Chestnuts, Wild Pheasant, and Chanterelle appetizer was too good to leave a drop on the dish. The lasagna, unlike any lasagna I have ever tasted, is absurdly -- not to say obscenely! -- delicious. The veal, ultra-tender venison, and desserts are all really, truly exceptional. Don't miss this experience. Unmatched.
- Pros: Everything, really
- Cons: None
What happened to the dress code???????
by Mikeymets
Everything was spectacular. Food, service, and ambiance. My wife was all dolled up for her 30th and I was
in suit and tie. I heard a famous model was denied dinning due to $1000 pair of jeans. I saw at least ten people wearing jeans and one person , that of course was dining close to us, was wearing jeans, sneakers, white socks and a wrinkled untucked shirt. That wouldn't be so much of an eyesore accept he was also loud. Please bring back the dress code. Diners can be as loud as they want, just dress accordingly. They're not serving hot dogs and there aren't any bleechers at Fiamma. Show chef some respect.
- Pros: What aspecial treat. I tried the veal tongue.
- Cons: Dress code has been terminated.
Romantic Dinner
by warner34
Best "Dining" experience in New York. Top marks for food, decor, ambience, wine list, professional service, price, consistency make for an unforgettable experience without fail at this highend NY/Italian restaurant. Quiet and romantic, it's perfect for business or for a special occasion. Any individual component may be beat in many restaurants on any given evening, but the gestalt is incomparable? Been back over two dozen times.
The Details on 206 Spring Street Events
What to Drink:
Though girly-looking, the tangy Citrus cocktail, with its Campari rose foam, is a fun way to sneak in some molecular gastronomy.
Look Good:
Though they won't kick you out if you wear designer jeans (the normal Soho restaurant dress code), know that you'll be in the minority.
Know Before You Go:
The extensive wine list is listed on the B.R. Guest website, meaning you can pre-select. Regardless, a knowlegeable sommelier is there to steer your choices. The $65 Spanish Naiades Verdejo is a relatively good deal and a nice match for fish and desserts.
