Editorial Review for Murray's Bagels – by Adam Rapoport
The Scene
With its exposed-brick walls and soda bottle-lined wooden shelves, this family-run shop feels like something out of 1950s Brooklyn. Bins of fresh bagels rest behind the counter, and there are always a few customers sitting at one of the few tables inside or on one of two wooden benches out front.
The Food
The soft bagels--made fresh on-site--are good; if you go in the morning, especially on weekends, you'll stand a chance of getting a warm one. The selection is standard--onion, poppy, cinnamon-raisin, pumpernickel--and the array of smoked fish is fairly impressive. The scruffy-looking post-collegiate types behind the counter also make a good deli sandwich. To drink, grab something from Murray's stock of fruit drinks and iced teas.

The bagels are okay. They make them extra big and burn them so you think they have the crisp exterior trademark of a good bagel (for those new to the authentic bagel experience, they should have a crisp exterior with a dense chewy interior) The worst feature of Murray's on 6th is the AWFUL SERVICE. I've gone there three days a week for 6 weeks and got what I ordered only twice. The last time, the man even unwrapped the bagel to look at it and still it was wrong! They ask for your order minimum of 3 times and have asked me up to 6 times from the time I first placed my order until I arrived at the cashier and still couldn't get it right. If you are really hankering for a truly good bagel then take some time and meander over to Hudson and Christopher to HUDSON BAGELS. Those are excellent bagels (and the service is great)
Pros: It is on 6th Ave
Cons: bad service, bad management, average product

I love the bagels, I can't stop sinking my teeth in them. I found the coffee pretty good, clean store, great service. Everyone was so nice to me. But the only thing that turns me off is where are the Americans, I will gladly pay extra to put an American to work. P.S. I will love to meet the person(s) who makes these lovely bagels.
Pros: Nice people, great foods, awsome bagels.
Cons: We're are the Americans ?
