“This is a good bar to start at- always fairly busy, very young collegy crowd and a refreshing change.”
“But once you're inside the music is really good, lots of 80's, and 90's fun stuff, country, hip hop- a good variety.”
“bn is a great place to go for happy hr.”

Hands Down Best Dive Bar in NYC. I've been going to Bar None since my days at NYU and it's still as crazy. There's a comedy show now on Thursdays and everytime they've got comedians who've been on Conan O'Brien, Comedy Central, HBO. It's still dirt cheap and I love the spirit of the place. Everyone is welcome there- "bar none". I love it.
Pretty good scene. Sort of low key for what I expected. Drinks were cheap though and the service was decent. Too dark and not really crowded, but maybe i went in on a bad night. Burgers next door are great if you get tired of the bar.
No Hats?!?!?!.
Bar None is your typical "DIVE" bar. but for some reason, hats cannot be worn inside the place after 10pm. Even after you've been patronizing their establishment since 5pm. It is a stupid rule for a "DIVE" bar. They need to stop trying to be something they are not. The overzealous bouncers will patrol the bar in order to enforce this silly rule and will threaten to beat you up if you ask them about it. and what's worse they will do so while they and the bartenders wear their own hats.
the drinks are cheap. but i shouldn't have to be 'dressed' up to go to a DIVE.
I know this bar as well as anyone.
The big nights are Thurday through Saturday but in the summer, this place goes 7 days a week!!
Men over 25 have no business there, not only will you meet no women your age, but the women will not be receptive. I've seen many men shot down there for being too old. Most of the women are under 21.f course women of any age are welcome wherever they go but you probably won't like it.
This is a college bar mostly dominated by NYU. Leave the muscle shirts and the dress pants at home. T-shirt or button downs and jeans.
There's a generous dancefloor for a bar. The DJs try to please everyone so everyone with a mix of hip-hop, rock and 80s music.
The best place to hookup is at the bar up front then move to the dancefloor.
blech. only been here once, and will never go again. the bar was pretty much empty when i got there, and the two bartenders were too busy drinking with people sitting at the bar to make decent drinks. i got the worst cosmo i've ever tasted in my life: it was WARM and all i could taste was mix. it was also served in a much smaller than standard size martini glass. so a bad value on top of the horrible taste.
best hook up spot. i cant get enough oh this loud, noisy, crowded dive. they have cheapest and strongest drinks in downtown. And definitly the coolest bartenders, especially Sal.
A hard-core boozing joint for unpretentious rockers..
The Scene
With 11 TVs, '80s hard-rock soundtrack and brightly lit pool tables, Bar None is where men are dudes, women are broads and beer is Bud. Prissy Eurotrash types seeking a fine glass of red wine will run for their lives upon setting foot in this wonderfully booze-stenched dive, which feels more like Dallas than Manhattan.
The Draw
The salty bartenders shake up exceptionally potent cocktails, which are, of course, free of girly garnishes. But bare-bones boozing is what this mostly blue-collar and college football-star crowd is after. The bar stools are hogged by thick-waisted regulars who aren't about to let some downtown sissy elbow in on their $10 bucket of Bud Lite shorties--but if you're looking to impress your date with some bubbly, a sign above the bar suggests you "play the role" with a $60 bottle of Moet. Classy, n'est ce pas?
Nice Place. The drinks are half price till 11, which makes it a great place to go to before doing something else afterwards. The music is very mainstream: this is not the type of place from which you'll come out knowing new bands/artists. The crowd is young and friendly. The overall atmosphere was pleasant. People were there to talk and have some drinks, and showing off was fortunately not present the night I went (I'm tired of those trendy spots were people show off and TRY to be cool).
