"Unlike Midtown restaurants that are busy only for lunch & pre-theater dinner, Salmon River buzzes from breakfast ?til closing. Midday, it refuels neighborhood office workers, both on-premises and with Bryant Park-bound salads and sandwiches; after work, corporate creatures unwind at the long bar, in the mesh-curtained lounge, and in the quieter, bamboo-accented rear dining area. sensibly priced seafood

by THUNDLEY

i work in the area and come here quite frequently for lunch. It is an attractive restaurant, good for a business lunch or dinner. Ht the bar when you are by yourself..as I often do...excellent & interesting sandwiches & burgers.

This place is much better than the Oyster Bar at Grand Central and MUCH cheaper!!

  • Pros: creative, varied & surprisingly reasonably priced food
  • Cons: bar can be noisy

The unique place for salmon

by torquan

Salmon is a very special fish which deserves respect in preparation and cooking. An hastily and careless prepared salmon looses all his great nutrients. This respect is guaranteed at Salmon River. I had the planched salmon. Great food, correct prices and nice staff. Go there if you can.

  • Pros: Lounge with that delicate bit of flair
  • Cons: No rawbacks, perfecrt experience
