What Our Expert Scouts Say

November 18, 2012

Jimmy Bradley's The Harrison is more or less a downtown mirror image of his famous Red Cat in Chelsea -- only bigger, better, hipper, and more refined. Bradley, one of the city's great old-school restaurant guys, is an expert hand in both front and back of the house management, and as a result the food -- high quality, nice looking, unadventurous American -- is totally reliable, along with the service. The big bar makes a great place to stop in and have a solo dinner without anybody hassling you.

Thanks for the great night out!!. Great night out! Went with a few friends who I hadn't seen in a while. Had a few drinks at the bar and was treated like royalty!! (great martini's!) At the table service was great and the food even better. I had the beet salad, and have been trying to replicate it ever since! And the lamb was to die for! I am looking forward to going back soon!!

service: excellent. very well trained and knowledgeable. our wait staff was very helpful with the wine selection

decor: modern. wasn't too crazy about it

ambiance: lively, but not overly loud. depends on day of week

crowd: slightly older crowd

price: the prices of the individual plates are moderately priced, but can get expensive if ordering several small plates per person.

Fantastic Restaurant. heyy I am the first reviewer :) Absolutely fantastic. I have been here twice once on a romantic date and the second time with a party of four and each time it was an experience. From the minute you sit down to the minute you leave everything is above and beyond what you expect. Fantastic food escellent service great wine list. Expensive but well worth it. If you want to impress this is the place.

Average.... A friend of mine has been under a lot of stress lately so I wanted to take him to a relaxing place and cheer him up. It worked! The food was lovely and the place was pretty but the servicer was rude which got me down. Another thing...... when I called to make reservations for 8pm the receptionist said they were booked up and could only seat us at 7:30. However the place was a quarter full all the time we were there. So I guess the food and place is pretty but I can't say much for the service.

our new favorite place. I love the Harrison! We ate there for the second time last night and had one of the best meals ever. Each course was perfectly cooked and extremely flavorful. The panna cotta for dessert was the perfect summer delight! The Harrison is our new favorite place.

Artichoke hearts!. OMG, the artichoke hearts appetizer. I've eaten there at least 10 times this year and cannot resist ordering that same appetizer every time. I love everything I've tried at the harrison, but I always end up dreaming about those artichoke hearts. Last time I was there I also had the lemon chicken and tried my husband's octopus salad and his lamb chop. It's a tossup which was my favorite. I could easily have finished his lamb chop if I hadn't stopped myself.

We live nearby and in that neighborhood (tribeca) there are hardly any places you can go spur of the moment, for a great, fun meal. So we really love this place. It's a lot of fun eating at the bar. I've also been for birthdays and everyone I've brought there has loved it. I sent my friends there for an anniversary, because they wanted a place that was not stuffy or too "fancy" but still felt special, and they thought it was perfect.

The waiters I've had were always really nice and knew their food. Always perfect service, and always delicious.

Bad Service. I really wanted to like this place since I really like the Red Cat and everything started off well - nice table, welcoming staff, good drinks but everything went down hill once the food came. My wife's courses were excellent but both of mine were inedible, the clam special was filled with grit and my entree, a steak was really tough. When I complained to the server - he told me that manager said he didn't care. Must be under new management

Perfect!. The food is wonderful, simple and always very good. The service is subtle. The staff is very knowledgeable. Prices are very good for Tribeca. Ambiance is good, sometimes a bit too dim though. Great place to take family or friends. Eating outside in the summertime is also a plus. They own Red Cat in Chelsea as well. Food is as good at Harrison and much better ambiance in Tribeca.
