The Scene
The lofty bi-level space of the MOMA Design Store's downtown outpost is more open and well-designed than its uptown counterpart. It looks right at home in Soho, attracting tourists and Saturday shoppers; this is where you head when you're stumped for a gift.
The Goods
Aalto vases make a swell couple-who-has-everything wedding present, while witty umbrellas (black on the outside, but lined with clouds) are a welcome break from bought-on-the-street numbers. The collection of modern jewelry could provide you with the perfect token for Mother's Day, and an assortment of MOMA coffee table tomes are good for just about anyone who likes art. But what about you? MOMA's holiday cards are customer faves, and the various reproductions of Eames pieces would be welcome in any apartment. But if you can't make up your mind, sit back in a Herman Miller Aeron chair and pretend you're master of the universe.

After Mott Street I headed over here, they have really cool stuff. Def worth a visit here. Fun place.

Much better than the original MOMA Design Store, this branch is a worthy competitor to Moss et al. Sure, all these places seem to be drawing from the same stock these days, but this store is more spacious and friendlyh than most of its ilk.
