Couture for queens and lingerie for ladies who lunch.. The Scene Brand-new in October '01, this retail temple to one of the world's largest high-end fashion houses smells like a Rolls-Royce right off the production line. Which is fitting, because that's probably a scent that most of Escada's clients are accustomed to: luxury. The store's crisp, white, airy space is a perfect canvas to show off the classic clothing's opulent details--like real fur collars and buttons plated with gold.
The Goods Hand-stitched beaded gowns hang on well-lit walls like fine art in a museum. Diamond jewelry rests on velvet pillows, protected by air-tight glass tanks. Lingerie is encrusted in Swarovski crystals. To say this stuff is glamorous and elegant would be like saying Bill Gates is well-off.
