“still have to go for my fittings but the staff was So nice and SO helpful.”
Disorganized and disappointing. Getting your wedding gown is supposed to be a fun, and also moving, experience. Not here! Before I had bought my dress, the service at Amsale flagship salon seemed perfectly fine, but as soon as I was a "done deal" the place turned disorganized and disappointing. The staff - all with very fake smiles on their faces - ordered the wrong veil for me, messed up my appointment times, and in the end didn't finish my dress before the day I had to leave town to get married. But that's not the worst of it at all: when I picked up the dress, the hemline of my dress was cut so crooked, that I had to fix it by myself at home the day before the wedding. It was horrible. Final details on the back were added in so hastily (right before the dress pick up) that you could see the stitching. This should not happen at a place where you spend thousands of dollars on the gown!! Yet, when I pointed this out to the staff while picking up the dress, they were very defensive and arrogant. The gowns of Amsale Aberra are beautiful, but her staff makes the experience of getting one a very unpleasant one, if not traumatic. I only have bad memories. Get your Amsale gown somewhere else. Or, if you get it here, I recommend you bring a friend with you to every fitting, so that you have an extra set of eyes there. No one at the salon will have your back. They just want you in, paying, and out.
Fantastic Experience.
This is my first Citysearch review, but I had such a positive experience with Amsale I wanted to share it. I ordered 9 bridesmaid dresses through Amsale. Our consultant, Linda was such a pleasure to work with. She responded quickly to emails and questions and was generally very helpful. In the grander scheme of things our order was not a big one, but by the level of customer service I never felt this way. The dresses even came in a month earlier than quoted! I really cannot say enough positive things about our experience.
I wish I had ordered my dress through them, I am not having the same experience with my wedding dress vendor :(.
I found the dress of my dreams!. My review is very unlike the ones before me. I flew to New York with 3 family members and 2 bridesmaids the first weekend in April. I had been to two other stores before getting to Amsale. I arrived 30 minutes early and looked around while I waited for the individual serving me to appear. She came out earlier then I expected and allowed me to walk around and show her 4 of the dresses I loved. They all looked good but the second one I tried on was a dream. It was a Kenneth Pool dress from the Fall 2007 collection and I LOVE IT! I decided within 30 minutes that that was THE dress as I skipped up and down the loft. Not only did they serve myself and my whole party champagne while we waited but i recieved 10% off since I had bought it the first time. I still have to go for my fittings but the staff was So nice and SO helpful. If you have the budget for a beautiful dress...GO HERE!
SICK OF THE DIVAS!!!. RUDE RUDE RUDE! I call to follow up with them on a dress I was interested in ordering and they have no record! This place is just awful! Great designs and HORRIBLE customer service! I can't get over how rude the staff is. They are unwilling ot help and act as if they are AMSALE! I think they need to hire less divas and more customer focused individuals! Trust me brides, order your dress from Bloomies or Saks, stay away from this place! They are just not what Madison avenue and top designer customer should be!
Amasale designs are great.....BUT!!!!!!!!!!!. My bridesmaid travelled from DC and beyond to visit Amsale's salon for bridemaid dresses. Although the dresses were very nicely designed they didn't have every sample they have on their website. It made it difficult to get an idea of what I wanted because they didn't have the dresses I saw online. The thing that I really had a problem with is NONE of the samples fit anyone above a size 6!!!!!!!!!!! What is this about when the average woman is a size 10-12. I had one bridesmaid who had to sit there and not try on anything because there was nothing in her size and she is about a size 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I addressed this with the salesperson and she looked at me with a blank stare as if to say "sorry". I will definitely not buy my dresses from them simply because I feel they discriminate against medium or larger sized woman. Petite women need only apply!!!
Cool, sleek and pared down gowns for your big day..
The Scene
Recently expanded, Amsale (pronounced Amsala) is a premiere bridal and formalwear store located in the Revlon building. Sweeping windows offer a view of Madison Avenue, straight into FAO Schwarz's Barbie Land. Brides-to-be or the soon-to-be-bat mitsvahed come here for great service and beautifully outfitted dressing rooms. Fresh flowers, rich, dark wood floors and lots of shiny white-paneled, hidden doors show off the gowns in true Madison Avenue high-style.
The Goods
Amsale is the designer to choose when Vera Wang's a little too pricey, and Yumi Katsura's a little too over the top. The dresses are mostly full-skirted and often beautifully detailed with slightly contrasting fabric bows or pleats. Think timeless, elegant and about 3 to 4 grand a pop. Bring your Mom and your little sister so they can get great black tie looks for the big day too. Evening wear offerings are equally simple, chic and minimalist.
