What People Are Saying About Paradou
The Owner
Paradou
Owner
Like Marcel Proust with his madeleine, a trip to Paradou will send you into fond rememberances of trips to Provence. In the pretense-filled world that is the Meatpacking District, Paradou is a fresh breath of authenticity. You will certainly feel transported whiling away the hours in Paradou's tiny but airy and bright dining room or in their sprawling year-round garden, chatting around tables of wooden wine crates, sampling wines from an all-French wine list, and dining on food that would feel right at home in a small village in the Luberon. Service is casual but knowledgeable and professional.
Trained by legends Paul Bocuse and Daniel Boulud, Chef Kfir Ben-Ari puts his own spin on French classics. Reading the menu descriptions of these is alone worth the trip.

The Scene
When those cheese-and-wine cravings kick in, this pretty Provencal boite is just the answer. Hipsters with a Gallic bent while away the hours in a bright, itsy-bitsy dining room and sprawling garden, chatting around tables of wooden wine crates, and sampling Sancerre, Muscadet and Chinon from small carafes. Service is casual and clubby.
The Food
The menu features snacky French bistro favorites like salad nicoise, as well as roast chicken, duck and other hearty entrees. Start with rich duck rillettes on crispy toasts, or share an oversized endive-Roquefort salad. You can't select which farmstead cheeses will land on your tasting plate, but they're always well-balanced, if a bit small for the price. You can, however, match interior and exterior to create a sandwich of your choice: Favorites like andouille-mushroom-manchego and jambon-Gruyere with pickled onions are better on hot-pressed bread, while others, like creamy artichoke lardon, make excellent savory crepes.

My fiance chose Paradou for my birthday party. What a great choice! We were treating as if we were family and the guys working became instant friends of ours. Alex and Ronan, thank you so much! Paradou is VERY HIGHLY recommended!

No where in the description about the 'Best Brunch Deal in Town' does it say that Paradou will charge an additional 50% for booking a large party. We were looking forward to a nice celebratory brunch and then we find out that the brunch will not be $29 as advertised but $45. Not the end of the world or breaking the bank and normally this kind of miscommunication wouldn't warrant a poor review but the reservationist was rude and pretentious. A fair warning needed to be issued to those thinking of spending any money here.

Our Wedding was on May 22, a beautiful day in the Conservatory Gardens of Central Park. After the ceremony, our guests were taken to Paradou for the reception, and from beginning to end, it was a magical night! While always a special place with excellent food, the reception was amazing. We arrived and were shown to the private garden, where our guests were greeted with Champagne cocktails & hors d'ouvres that melted in your mouth. The garden was lovely, the tables were decorated with candles and beautiful flower arrangements (florist recommended by Alex), which were arranged on the outside of the room, so everyone could mingle. The servers who passed the hors d'ouvres, were friendly and professional; attentive, but without hovering or intruding on the festivities. When we took our seats, we were treated to a delectable menu that Chef Kfir prepared especially for us. Everything was delicious, expertly prepared, and served quickly and efficiently (not an easy task with so many people eating at once). The wine that Alex selected for us was excellent, and flowed all night. The evening was magical and everyone has said it was the best reception they've ever attended. We will return return to Paradou often, as will our guests. We can't wait to sample Chef Kfir's Carte des Foie Gras! Thanks again to all of the staff, and especially to Alex and Chef Kfir who worked so hard to make this evening so very special. Bon Appetit!
