Soup up the kitchen at this handy Chinatown mart.. The Scene
One part hardware store, one part Pearl River Mart, this crammed shop has enough stuff to slow down even the most harried shopper. College kids would do well to stock their mini-kitchens here with extremely inexpensive glasses and bowls that do double duty for pasta or cereal. And more sophisticated cooks (or cleaners) will find plenty of specialty contraptions to fill the cupboards.

The Goods
Outside, handsomely crafted straw brooms poke out of a large bin like a utilitarian bouquet, while the chandelier-like Folding Dryer has enough clothes pins to drip dry a family's worth of underclothes. Also cool is the Hello Pino soup thermos--big enough for hearty Asian stews, but overkill for your plain old Campbell's. Other fun items are the small, wooden boxes for the aromatic sipping of sake, little ceramic rests for chopsticks and a "therapeutic massage" tool that would look dangerous in the wrong hands.
