Happy Ending

Happy Ending's former life was an erotic massage parlor and has now been transformed into a club with two floors, each with its own feel. The street level pays homage to the lounge ideal of the days of Frank Sinatra. Set-in red velvet booths offer just the right amount of privacy to engage in a little intimacy, but are public enough to hold court among an endearing crowd. Downstairs kitsch reigns among the original tiling and waist height shower heads, the sauna rooms turned private party coves and the original etched glass swan and naked female mirror. All combine for an intimate, almost indecent atmosphere that harkens back to a pre-Giuliani New York with a touch of 1960s Las Vegas. A diverse clientele drawn by the distinctive style, consistently good music and an over-abundance of sex appeal from their fellow patrons drink in the atmosphere nightly.

Editorial Review for Happy Ending – by Ben Widdicombe

The Scene
This former massage parlor makes a swish stop in this swiftly gentrifying neighborhood. Lounge in banquettes on the ground floor, or descend to the DJ-ready basement, where the original steam rooms have been renovated as tiled booths. The name is a reference to the coy way in which the space's previous occupants used to offer clients a finale to their massage.

The Draw
The vibe is hip and fresh and attracts many of the fashion-forward young things who patronize the avant-garde boutiques nearby. One thing this otherwise excellent venue hasn't yet got right, though, is the house cocktail list. Play it safe and stick to the standards. The Cantonese Mule, with Ketel One, ginger beer and lime juice, is ruined by the addition of Chambord. The house mojito is cloying, although the H.E. martini--Grey Goose and a drizzle of Scotch whisky--shows promise.

I had a bday party there this saturday night and it was awesome. the bouncers were really nice and my friends did not have any problems getting in. I called HE about a month in advance for a table for my friends and they were very friendly and called me back the same day. I called a week before my event to confirm. They reserved the champagne room for me which was downstairs and in the back. It was a nice sitting area for my friends since it was in the corner and near the downstairs bar so we kinda had our own little place. We did not stay in the room much since there were 20-30 or us there and we did not all fit. We left our bag and jackets there and some of my friends that wanted some quiet time away from the crowd were able to have it. A bouncer stood near our door the whole time. He was very nice to me and my friends and he also joked with us. I think since my group was kinda big he wanted to make sure everything was ok. The place is a bit small but it wasnt like some other bar/lounges in nyc that allows everyone in that makes it so crowded you cant breath. I was able to move around both floors just fine. There was a mixed crowd there. The music was good and the dj was friendly. My friends and I requested songs and he was nice enough to play it for us. If you are looking for a place to throw a fun party this is the place. they do not require bottle service which is a big plus. There was no cover for my friends and it was hassle free. I have a fun time and I would have a party there again. One thing I would say is that the music could have been louder. It didnt really bother me because I closer you got to the dance floor and dj it was louder. Thanks HE for a fun azz time.

I threw a party at Happy Ending and it was an awesome night! I had called a few weeks in advance to make a reservation, and when we arrived the night of the party we had a great corner with a few tables reserved for our party. The music was great, the drinks were great, and the staff was very helpful. Everyone had a great time, I highly recommend throwing your party at Happy Ending!
