Five juicy, tender dumplings ring in at $1, so two people can eat themselves silly for under $10. The two condiment bottles on the table provide all that you need: a tangy blend of vinegar and soy sauce in one, and spicy chili sauce in the other. – – The Food – The fried or boiled dumplings come in either pork or veggie and are handmade with a fragrant dose of chives. But don't overlook the other tasty Shanghainese treats: da bing (plump,…

So Delicious and Cheap

by noak11

This little hole in the wall on the south-west corner of Chinatown it a diamond in the rough. The menu is simple - fried pork dumplings, fried pork buns. At 5 for a dollar, you can fill up for $2-$3. It's not healthy, but add some of the vinegar sauce and hot sauce, you won't care as you inhale these little treats. They also serve a delicious hot soy milk and a hot and sour soup - nothing over $2. There is counter space for 5 people to eat but you can go to Columbus Park 50 feet away to eat when it's sunny. I will definitely come back. It's close to the city hall/courts in addition to Chinatown and Little Italy.

  • Pros: You can eat lunch for $2, tasty pork dumplings
  • Cons: limited menu, little dining space

it's no vanessa's

by jackie5186

a little overrated from what i can tell, this is no vanessa's dumpling house. but the dumplings are made right in front of you and the prices are cheap!

  • Pros: location, price
  • Cons: dumplings were just average, dough seemed thick

Cheapest in Chinatown

by b00pi3flak3s

The ultimate in cheap eats, Fried Dumpling is easily one of the best places to get a enjoy a satisfying meal of dumplings for less than $5. For the old adage, "1 dollar goes a long way" it bolds very true for this little place. Beware of the non-English speaking woman who makes the dumplings.

  • Pros: Inexpensive, Dumplings
  • Cons: Service, Lack of English

Great dumplings

by e_angel

Since I live in the neighborhood, I go here a lot. The price is cheap - 5 dumplings for $1. You get a good "show". It's entertaining to watch them make them. They're also good tasting! There's no room to really sit and enjoy there, but there's a park half a block away, so take them there and bask in the sun.

  • Pros: Dumplings
  • Cons: No seating

cheap eats!

by pandacub143

For a dollar, i couldn't be more satisfied. You get 5 fresh, steamy fried pork dumplings for a buck! They were really delicious, just like my grandma used to make them, filled with pork and chives with the juice that tends to run down your chin and onto your shirt. You can eat at the counter, but theres not much room at all, so just walk half a block down to Columbus park to eat. And good luck trying to ask them questions- they only speak Manderin and a bit of Cantonese.

  • Pros: DUMPLINGS, CHEAP
  • Cons: limited seating
