The Scene – After a multimillion-dollar renovation, the Dylan Hotel sits serenely in what was once the meeting place of New York's top chemists. – – The Details – The dim corridors and 107 spacious guest rooms (standard, executive and deluxe) balance a clean, stark design with a few warm touches; think upscale European hostel-chic. Blank pale walls, modern furnishings and marble bathrooms (eight with bathtub or whirlpool) are offset by sapphire taffeta curtains, ultra-seude accents and 11-foot-high ceilings. Can We Have Some Help Here?

Nice looking small modern boutique hotel located a block from Grand Central Station. Tasteful looking, very quiet rooms with high ceilings, 27 inch TV's but no DVD or CD players, and no 1000 CD library as their web site promises. No bathrobes or slippers as advertised but iron and safe (which did not work due to low battery). The real problem is the indifferent, unaccomodating staff. For instance, our room was not ready at check in and if you need a taxi, they direct you to run down the street a block and hail one yourself. I travel to Manhattan often and would not consider a return visit.
- Pros: Location, Quiet rooms
- Cons: , Lack of amenities

I had to stay here because the W was booked - and wat a great surprise. I stayed with my girlfriend for and they overbooked the two rooms so the upgraded me to the alchemy suite - it took my breath away. It has the best hotel bathroom, high cielings with georgeous architectual details. It has totally cured me of my "4-star only" rule. Will definitely stay there again.
- Pros: decor, bathroom, service
Romantic Getaway

We stayed for one night in rainy May, and it was great. The room was totally secluded, and we never heard anyone else, including from the busy New York streets. The setting was very sleek and romantic with low lighting options and a generous bed.
- Pros: Romantic, Quiet, Good location
- Cons: Trashy View

Know Before You Go:
The Alchemy Suite was once the Chemists Club's medieval-style library; the restaurant and lounge, with 20-foot-high ceilings, was the dramatic great hall.
