What People Are Saying About Crif Dogs

Featured Review

Contributor

A mixed crowd sprawls out among the checkered tables and counter stools, eyeing posted specialties like the Spicy Redneck ("makes you want to marry your cousin") or the more demure root-beer float ("One straw or two?"). Dog choices are limited to the standard Crif (an up-to-snuff smoked frank), the snappier, bolder-tasting all-beef New Yorker and the veggie, delivered in signature combos, ranging from the satisfying chili dog to more eccentric styles. Fries are somewhat bland, but the shakes and egg creams add flair.

Editor's Tips

Know Before You Go:
You can order hamburgers if you'd rather bypass dog heaven.
The Extras:
There's a $10 minimum on all credit card orders.
Look Good:
Visit the dog spot's "secret" hidden bar, P.D.T. (which stands for "Please Don't Tell), which is accessed through the phone booth to your left when you walk in.

Overhyped

by 89thandbroke at Citysearch

I had a $5 strawberry milkshake here, and it tasted familiar - then I realized it was like when my mom used to mix strawberry syrup in with milk when I was 5.

I also had the cheese fries. Cheese fries to me mean melted cheese, not cheese wiz slapped on them. It was way too messy and I had to use a fork and knife to eat them.

Hot dogs were ok. But let's be honest, if I had a ton of time, I'd be able to whip up some creative hot dog combos too. The Good Morning Hot Dog that I got had egg, cheese and bacon - i could have made that as an omelette, thrown a dog on it, and gotten the same thing at home.

  • Pros: Creative Hot Dog Combos
  • Cons: Disappointing milkshakes, Gross Cheese Fries

CRIF DOGS rock

by Littleseed at Citysearch

I say that the place was crowded but that is a good thing for the business. It was nice and the crowd moved quickly because when we walked in and by the time we ordered we found a table out of the 4 tables in the place. Great place I will definitely return again.

  • Pros: great food, and service
  • Cons: small and crowded

Creative Hot Dogs

by Athena Chang , Citysearch Contributor at Citysearch

Every weekend when I am out and 3AM strikes, I think of Crif Dogs. They know what I want: hot sexy dogs! They make your hot dog fresh and they have many different toppings. My favorite is Good Morning Dog, which suits 3AM drunk crowd very well :)

Their tater-tots and chili fries are amazing too. Whenever I come here, there is always a long line waiting to get their hot dogs but that never seems to stop anybody from coming here.

  • Pros: Opens late, many varieties
  • Cons: very crowded
