Choose from a beef, beef and pork, or veggie dog at this popular late night joint, and customize with jalapeño, onion, bacon, egg, or any number of fatty, tangy toppings.

Everyone loves Crif Dogs, both for their vast and eclectic hot dog menu, the rowdy vibe, and the mysterious phone booth on the side that leads to the city's greatest and most secretive speakeasy. The hamburgers here are underrated, IMO.

Drunk food worthy hot dogs. Try the spicy redneck -- the coleslaw may sound weird, but it works. Anything with bacon is a must too.

Overhyped. I had a $5 strawberry milkshake here, and it tasted familiar - then I realized it was like when my mom used to mix strawberry syrup in with milk when I was 5.

I also had the cheese fries. Cheese fries to me mean melted cheese, not cheese wiz slapped on them. It was way too messy and I had to use a fork and knife to eat them.

Hot dogs were ok. But let's be honest, if I had a ton of time, I'd be able to whip up some creative hot dog combos too. The Good Morning Hot Dog that I got had egg, cheese and bacon - i could have made that as an omelette, thrown a dog on it, and gotten the same thing at home.

CRIF DOGS rock. I say that the place was crowded but that is a good thing for the business. It was nice and the crowd moved quickly because when we walked in and by the time we ordered we found a table out of the 4 tables in the place. Great place I will definitely return again.

Creative Hot Dogs. Every weekend when I am out and 3AM strikes, I think of Crif Dogs. They know what I want: hot sexy dogs! They make your hot dog fresh and they have many different toppings. My favorite is Good Morning Dog, which suits 3AM drunk crowd very well :)

Their tater-tots and chili fries are amazing too. Whenever I come here, there is always a long line waiting to get their hot dogs but that never seems to stop anybody from coming here.

Awesome Dogs!. Crif Dogs is a really cool little place tucked away at the end of St. Mark's near the park - you can find it by the "Eat Here" hot dog signs. I've always found the counter girls to be friendly and the dogs can't be beat. I like the New York snappy dog - a skinny little tasty morsel hidden in the soft Wonder bun... all it needs is a little mustard... my friends love the Chihuahua Crif dog. I recommend grabbing one and heading over to the park to watch the real dogs in action or just kick back at one of the little tables inside. They have some cool retro video games - and a mystery behind the phone booth. Bottom line - a fun place with character and real good dogs.

not thorough about pick up orders. My office placed an order for dogs, tots and fries, even a stoner special. We didn't receive any of our chili cheese fries after we paid for them and left.

Couldn't go back to get them after that (work day an all) and they would not send a delivery person with 3 orders to cover those. We had to go down there the next day just to get a refund of our money already paid for the fries.

All in all no effort made by them to refund us our money or get us our fries. In NYC, you take your chances, but never again with Crif Dogs.

Great Dogs. I picked up my brother after a night of him drinking and he was at Crif Dog's and said he'd buy me a hot dog for picking me up. He said I HAD to try their hot dogs. Its a small place, definitely a late night spot after some beers, and I ordered the Chihuahua. And absolutely LOVED every bite. I think the Tsunami and the Spicy Reddneck are tasty as well. Give it a try! Definitely good cheap eats after some good times with pals.

No longer a favorite hangout after unfair service. I visited here years before I moved to New York. I recently made the plunge and moved to the city. I have been going here ounce a week since I moved here. Sometimes more, sometimes 3 or 4 times a week.

The last time I was there, I was informed the refills on the drinks were 0.60 or sixty cents. I don't think this is a fair for a consistent customer and someone who never leaves without tipping.

Creative dogs. As an avid hot dog eater, I was both impressed and disappointed buy my visit to Crif Dogs. Fun ambiance aside, I was impressed by the variety and combination of toppings. I ordered a Chihuahua (bacon wrapped with avacodo and sour cream) which was tasty, despite what I considered to be a meager amount of either topping.

I ordered a New Yorker (snap skin dog) with mustard and was disappointed in the shrunken and overcooked dog. Perhaps mine was an anomoly, but the shrivelled dog was lost in the "no-frills" brand bun. Both dogs and a medium Birch Beer was nearly 9 bucks. A bit too steep for a mediocre experience in my opinion.

Your buck will go a lot further with a "Recession Special" 6 blocks away on 14th and 1st.
