Clean, they change the sheets and towels. I wanted a strong massage and my therapist knew exactly what to do. I am a repeat customer because I always get a great massage at Graceful Services.
Great Massages!. I recently moved to California and I will definitely miss going to graceful services for my monthly massages. It's a small and peaceful environment with good prices!
great hot stone massage. I showed up for my massage in a terrible mood and the receptionist made me wait. But all of that was forgotten 10 minutes into my hot stone massage. The therapist was very solicitous, asking if things were ok. She was able to go quite hard without triggering any of my nerve points, so it was very enjoyable. It was only an hour, but it felt like much longer. It is not the most basic place I've been - but it is no-frills - no relaxation room or nice reception area. There is a sauna, but it is quite small.
Amazing massage. I've had massages all over and this is definitely one of the best ones I've had. The massage therapist took out all my knots and tension and I felt totally renewed after! They get you from your ears to your toes, literally...felt great all over.
BEST medicinal massage - understand what they do!. if you like your massage, HARD, MEDICINAL AND MIRACULOUS... GO!!! i've never had a bad massage here though i'm partial to the men. that's just preference. Jeff is a miracle worker. do your homework and know this isn't your frilly chi chi girly place. they work on your CHI and all that ails you. the place is a treasure!
BEST MASSAGE EVER!!!.
I just can't understand the negative reviews. Every time I've gone to Graceful Services I have been so pleased with the results. What they do best is not give you a frilly, gentle, pampering massage. Their talents lie in giving therapeutic massage, which eases out stiffness and tension and muscle tightness and pain. I have suffered from chronic shoulder pain, and travel-induced lower back and hip pain. I have tried chiropractors and physical therapists and have done yoga. But, when I am in NYC, I have found Graceful Services to be the best. You do have to make sure your therapist understands what kind of pressure you like. My last therapist, Maggie, started my session with a firm touch, but I asked her to increase the pressure, and then asked her specifically to work out my tight hip and buttocks muscles, because I hadn't been able to walk or even sleep without pain and stiffness. After that massage, I felt like a new woman. I felt like my body had been loosened up, and when I walked away from there, I felt like walking was effortless. I hadn't felt like that in a long time. It was amazing. And, the results stayed with me for almost two weeks. Actually, my buttocks muscles still have not returned to that state, and it's been even longer. Really a HUGE difference! I was happy, and I didn't have to take Advil every day anymore.
Some people may not realize that if you do request a good, hard massage like the ones I do, you may feel a bit sore for a day or two. And, if it gets uncomfortable during the massage, let your therapist know.
Thank you, Graceful Services!! You are the best!
Massage from hell.
Wow, so our group of 4 decided to get massages to end our Wonderful trip to New York. Little did we know what was to come. We get there and notice the very uninviting atmosphere and hospital like set up along with the unclean little space. We all went in expecting a relaxing time and all but one of us came out horrified, violated and in pain. My experience was horrific and extremely painful! She never once asked me what type of pressure I would like and she could tell I was uncomfortable. But did she stop? No! She just said relax!! Well honey, when you're diving into my knots with full force, I CANT relax genius! I felt VERY violated with my legs all up and pretzel like as well as my arms. I think she was trying to pluck my limbs off (like plucking feathers off a chicken). I've never been so hacked off after a massage. I'm back at the hotel feeling like I've been beat out of anger. I could tell she was annoyed because I kept moving. I'm definitely regretting not speaking up or even running out the door.
As for the other 2 in my group, they felt just about the same way as I did. In pain, feeling violated, and hacked.
Only one of us isn't in pain, but she definitely didn't enjoy it.
One person in the group handed the masseuse a few ones for a tip and she threw it on the ground. Tips ARE expected and some masseuses will block you till you hand them money!! Rude
So, if you're looking for rude people, trashy hospital-like atmosphere, pain, and even tears... This is your place!
You can get wayyyy better for your money, trust me..
Hm. I'm not really sure why everyone raves about this place. There is a place on E77th that will give you an hour massage for $45 with a private room...
I booked a swedish massage last minute here, $60 for the hour the receptionist told me. I was hankering for one and so I went for it, it is also near my work. When I got there, the receptionist told me I had to pay before the massage "That way it's easy for you to just leave afterwards..." . He was also kind of a creepy dude. When he rung me up it was $63, not $60. I don't mind the $3 extra, I just didn't like that the receptionist lied to me over the phone.
I should have asked to see the area before I paid, and now I know why they ask you to pay before hand, because it was pretty hospital like. Two big rooms, with 3 stations in each room, all separated by a very flimsy curtain. My masseuse attempted to do a swedish massage, and I've had several and could tell that she did not know the techniques at ALL. It felt like I just asked a friend for a shoulder massage or something. The curtain was so thin and I was probably an arms width length away from the person in the next station (who was a dude, who was snoring. I could hear everything in his massage and was not comfortable changing knowing he was about 4 feet from me). The masseuse also set a timer. Instead of 1 hour, she set it for 45 minutes. How do I know? Because when it went off, and I changed back into my clothes (which took a long time because it's winter), it was 9:15pm (my massage started at 8:15pm). She then was waiting outside my room and stuck her hand out for a tip without saying a word. I really should have given her less but I gave her about $10. Rather than exiting out the front, they take you to a back door and you're out the building.
Definitely will not be going back again. Honestly my opinion people? Do research, find somewhere cheaper. If you don't mind this atmosphere, that's cool, just don't pay $60 for it, go somewhere else and pay less for it.
Massage.
I had two massages at Graceful Services. I recall the first time when I came, the woman behind the desk wasn't friendly at all. She just told me the price and had me pay.
The first massage I had was very good which brought me back a second time despite the unfriendly receptionist. Unfortunately, the second massage was low quality. There were also sick people coughing and making all sorts of noise whilst I was there. I left very disappointed and won't return.
Horrific Experience ...NEGATIVE 3 STARS!. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a "spa". This hole in the wall should not even be considered a spa. Upon your arrival you are asked to pay and are informed that if you pay via credit, you will be charged a service fee. You are then guided through a tiny hallway to a room which seperates you from the person next to you only by a shower curtain. You are then instructed to disrobe, in the few inches of space you are alotted, and place your belongings in a plastic bin which you then place under your massage bed. My masseuse came into the room and could not have been ruder. She started rubbing her elbows on my back in a circular motion, that wasnt the problem, the problem was that she was rubbing so fast I felt as though she was rushing to get somewhere. She then proceeded to "massage" my back with the dropletts of oil she would drop into her hand and would continue to deeply rub my RIBS and my SHOULDER blades! I felt as though I was in a torture chamber! My body was tense during the entire session, which was supposed to be 50 minutes and was not more than 30! The moaning of the man on the other side of my shower curtain, whose table was about 1 foot away from mine, just added to this horrific experience. This place is not even worth the reduced spa week rates! I will make sure to put it on my list of places I will never return to. I just hope im not bruised tomorrow!
