Editorial Review for Rise Bar – by Julie Mehta
The Scene
On the 14th floor of the waterfront Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Battery Park, this elegant, inviting space boasts a gorgeous vista of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The interior is comfortable, with muted upholstery and innocuous lounge music. The young, well-dressed bartenders maintain a detached suaveness as they mix libations for the after-work Wall Street crowd, tourists and occasional wedding party. Out on the terrace, with its sweeping view west to Jersey, couples make romantic silhouettes in the setting sun.
The Draw
Special martinis include the minty Libertini, with blue Curacao and raspberry vodka, and the Lychitini, a boldly flavored mix of vodka and fresh lychee puree. But that's just the start--the multipage menu offers a little of everything, from cordials to calvados, from mojitos to madeira. Asian-inspired appetizers, sandwich and seafood platters, and chocolate fondues make it easy to stay all evening long.

I love this place. I've tried many things on the menu over the years and everything (from the chicken and goat cheese salad to the tuna tartare to the spring rolls) is absolutely delicious, even at 2 a.m. Beautiful space, great service, open late, and good beer.

went here as i was told the view was great - which it definitely is - and expected to have a great experience as the bar is located in the ritz carlton. HOWEVER, i was extremely disappointed in the service. the servers were rude and pretentious, especially a lady named camlin (i think that was her name?). i was hoping to check the place out before the outside deck opened for the summer but based on my experience, i will certainly NOT be going back regardless of how nice the view may be. only go to this bar if you want to overpay for weak cocktails and poor service.
