“The host was a charm, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was great!”
“We felt so uncomfortable, we ate our meals quickly and didn't even order dessert.”
“The drinks are strong, the service is pretty good and i recommend this place to anyone who wants an adult crowd, good music (althought a tad loud at times...)”
“The food was dry and not very exciting, nothing I intended on waiting so long for.”
“The combo platter is good and so are their beverage selections!”
“Yet that just made it easier to appreciate the great physical set-up of the restaurant, from the funky chairs and lights to the supremely cool bar arcing into the center of the room.”
“loved the restaurant and I'd love to go back again!”
“Great food but needs to up there service.”
“Drinks tend to be more pricer than the best lounges, and prices overall are quite high.”
“long story short, the experience was incredible, the food, service, ambiance.”
horrible. The service was horrible I found something in my food as i am writing this i am currently trapped in the er for food poising i am so sick to my stomach this was the worst experience ever this was my first time to NY and first place i ate at and my experience is the worst for one the waitress was so rude, the managers as well they didn't even address the fact that i stated something was in my food now i am here sick on a vacation i was supposed to enjoy.
Good Time. Went for a birthday celebration, my own actually. Seated promptly upon arrival. Wait staff was very good. Our appetizers came promptly and were excellent. Highly recommend the codfish fritters and jerk shrimp. Entrees were good too. Ox tails, snapper, stew chicken - all good. No complaints at the table. And the drinks, lets just say there were a few rounds. LOL. The prices are Village prices, if you want cheaper, you should stay in the outer boros. Will go back anytime. Maybe next time, will sit in the Lounge.
Could be better, but nice experience. I like the service and atmosphere of Negril but I am not a fan of the food in the restaurant portion. I normally go to the lounge section downstairs and order appetizers. The combo platter is good and so are their beverage selections! I say you're better off in the lounge area if you want to visit Negril Village.
What Was the Hype About?. Went here for the first time for 2009 Christmas Dinner with my boyfriend. Immediatly got a seat because it was half empty due to the heavy rain. Server was VERY nice and courteous. I myself am Jamaican so I was expecting a real caribbean atmosphere, instead we were pegged upstairs near the loudest Jamaican men ever, words cant describe how loud they were, Not one employee asked them to tone it down. But the place has a great ambience of dim lights and reggae music. The food was pretty regular if you ask me, nothing I couldnt get right on Church Ave. in Brooklyn, Lets be reasonable here, $22 for some oxtail? The appetizers were good though, We had some Codfish fritters and Mango BBQ Wings. What I didn't like was the small portions and slow service, the waiter would move in a semi circle motion thru tables, like a stop; So if one table stopped him, we had to continually wait, since we were the last table. Also took forever just to get our food then the bill. The food was dry and not very exciting, nothing I intended on waiting so long for. Also the bathroom thing is a bit weird too, you have to walk thru the kitchen which was very weird. I would say this place is good for anyone new to Caribbean food, a Tourist or just an after work drink. If it hadnt been for the waiter, this place wouldve gotten two stars, But if your looking for ambience, this place has it.
Great place to WAIT!.
Went there to celebrate a friends birthday on a Saturday night. Got there at 11:40pm for midnight reservation, wasn't seated until 12:45am and didn't get our food until almost 2:00am. The food was good but definitely not worth the wait or the price.
$25 for 2 drinks -> they were good but "c'mon son!"
And you have to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom, made random.
Our favorite. My wife & I have been coming to Negril for a few years from NJ. We celebrate every occasion from Birthdays to Anniversaries. Tonight we celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary & the food & ambiance were great.
Great time.
I had a dinner party for 13 people last week. We were late and we were told that there would be a long wait to so they seated us in the lounge. I heard the lounge was really loud so I wasnt pleased but knew there was nothing I could do since we were late.
To my delight the lounge was the best move for us. There wasnt that many people down there when we arrived so we got exceptional service. The food was great, the music was great and after we ate, everyone was able to get up and dance. We went at 8pm at 11pm before it got really crowded. Great place for a dinner party. Just so you know if you bring a cake there is a $15 fee which is very reasonable.
terrible food. great everything else.
Food= an utter disappointment, I was suprised to see that there are actually west indians in the kitchen cooking. I had the lamb first and sent it back, it was dry and flavorless. Then I had oxtails which were standard, nothing special at all. Then the next time I had the jer k shrimp with macaroni and cheese and garlic steamed vegetables. The jer k shrimp was only 5 shrimp, the shrimp were char grilled and too hot. I love spicy food, but this was the painful type of spicy where you dont even enjoy the food. I had to scrape off the layers of jer k seasoning on it. The macaroni and cheese is dry and dull. The garlic veggies tasted like the veggies you steam in the bag at home, and there was no garlic whatsoever. My gma orderd a seafood roti and it was beautiful but it tasted like the chef dropped a box of salt in it. I could go on for days but I wont.
Music= great, very engaging. we all stood up and danced and sang, the band is GREAT
Atmosphere= great vibe I really like it
Wait Staff= excellent, they cleared the table after everything we ate and were very attentive. Im a waitress and I took some pointers from her on how to improve my service
Nice bathroom, with the mouthwash and mints etc.
Great time after all. I held my 30th birthday party here in Sept 08 and it turned out beautifully. I found Liz, the event planner, difficult to work with but luckly I didn't have to deal with her on the actual night of the event. Everyone was extremely nice and super helpful. The staff was attentive and made sure my 25 guests and I had a great time. The food and service was excellent considering it was big group. My celebration continued at the Rhum Lounge downstairs and again the service was top-notch. It seemed like the dj was experimenting which was annoying but we made the best of it and had a great time.
amazing experience. loved negril! the waitress was very helpful in recommending and describing drinks and meals. i tried goat stew for the first time and it was amazing i cant wait to go back
