“What a fantastic place, the decor has been designed to incorporate some of the orginal featured of the bank it used to be.”
“came for an event, but the event flopped and I liked the bar.”
“have been to Coda a few times and everytime I have been happy, all the servers are very nice and the food is good.”
“The menu looked good and we planned on having dinner.”
“Small, boring- Decent price drinks but the $20 cover ruins it- Music was so so, my friends and I danced and had a good time with each other but we were expecting a bigger place, a more lively atomosphere- Just a dull, ordinary bar with a dance floor, crow”

“Bartender was friendly enough but the overpriced drinks for mixers and a splash (if even that) of alcohol left a bad taste in our mouths.”
“got there at 10:15 and go to wait in line for 50 minutes, just so that I could pay the full stupid cover.”
will never go back.
I flew in to NYC to see a favorite band at Coda. The menu looked good and we planned on having dinner. They didn't have any hours or a phone # posted on the door, so I looked them up in the phone book to call about hours but no one answered the phone. Once I got there, I had to wait in line for tickets even though I was on the guest list. An employee near the door said they were serving food, but the tables had all been removed. She said we could eat at the bar, but there were only 6 chairs at the bar, and were already filled. It took a very long time just to ask the bartender for a menu. By the time I got her attention to order some food, she told me they "decided not to open the kitchen today". She could have told me that in the first place, rather than giving me a menu. Bar service was terrible, everything took a very long time, and my drink was awful. No one behind the bar knew how to make it and I saw them shrug at each other while pouring it. If you don't know how to make a drink, why not ask the person who ordered it?
The sound during the concert was fine. It was very crowded, but I expected that. I did not expect to have staff members continuously bumping into me without saying sorry or excuse me, all night long.
A spacious, lively music lounge makes for a near-miracle on 34th Street..
The Scene
With its bouncer, velvet ropes and eye-catching space, Coda injects a jolt of swank into the bustling business district around the Empire State Building. Converted from a bank, the sprawling, high-ceilinged lounge has an opulent Las Vegas patina with plush couches, red candles, palm trees and gold spiderweb-like chandeliers. A diverse, cubicle-weary crowd spreads out at the long bar and in the refurbished vault downstairs, enjoying the friendly waitresses' accommodating pace.
The Draw
Nightly rock and jazz bands are the surprising main event and help to break up the corporate vibe. Wines, champagnes and specialty drinks--including the Atomic Punch and Sin City, with gin and vermouth--accompany upscale bar snacks like sushi and fondue.
Fantastic Place!.
Great Room! Great Food! Great Music!
have been here several times this year and everytime has been great. Have not had any problems with bouncers, door people, wait people, etc.
Diamond in the rough. Great spot, great drinks, friendly staff and door people. We had a great time at our birthday party...will definately come back
The Worst Place Ever!!.
The bouncers at CODA will greet you with a Blank look on their face and no Hello's or Welcome to Coda's. Do not speak to them for they will not respond to any of your comments.
After suffering from frost bites outside, a girl will MAKE you pay for admission w/without guestlist. Try to bargain maybe you'll get lucky.
Your steps away from gettin your groove on until....the coat check guy (With An Attitude) says your not allowed to have your coat inside the club. Conveniently, a $4 charge is waiting for you and a tip box to milk you more. By the time your done they are probably closed because even though they say it closes at 4am they really kick EVERYONE out at 3:10am because the bouncers need their daily dose of HATER-ADE.
AWFUL. Absolutely awful.. A couple friends who were on the guestlist just walked in when I joined them. Not only would they not allow me in but forced me to pay the the $15 cover charge after standing in line for 45 minutes even though I was on the guestlist with my friends whom they let in for free and the place was empty inside. Unfair treatment and the doorman was extremely rude. They also advertised open bar from 10:30 - 11:30, but they closed at 11 making us pay. Overall, it's a crappy place and don't go.
Garbage. I was on the guestlist for a party which required me to arrive before 11. I got there at 10:15 and go to wait in line for 50 minutes, just so that I could pay the full stupid cover. Plus, they went back on their word and charged the girls in my group as well. Once I was inside, I tried to salvage the 3 remaining minutes of the open bar and didn't even have a chance to order a drink in time. Aside from the expected crap, the bouncers inside were jerks, bumping into you for no apparent reason except maybe they're bitter they failed their GEDs again. The music was beyond loud....who can enjoy music when your ears feel like they're gonna explode. Overall horrible place, don't come here.
Average. We went for a party for my girlfriends birthday. You will have to wait in line and pay a cover charge. Atmosphere is pretty cool with dancing. Overall, a good night out in NYC. It is not worth using promoters to try and plan a party at this club. It really does nothing!
Decent at best. Small, boring- Decent price drinks but the $20 cover ruins it- Music was so so, my friends and I danced and had a good time with each other but we were expecting a bigger place, a more lively atomosphere- Just a dull, ordinary bar with a dance floor, crowd was nothing special. Won't go back or recommend to anyone.
Agree. I have to agree with the last post. This place is so not what you would have expected. My girlfriend had a bachelorette party and those of us that like to party, went out after to Coda. This was Sat. May8th. I even told my friend that we shouldn't go, but she was told "THIS IS THE PLACE". So we went. It was SICK. First off, the scene was cool. Not too "Stuffy" very mixed, and not harassed at the door. 2nd, drinks were no different $$ than any other lounge/club in the city. Average 7 dollars. Good crowd. Not a "club" crowd. More working class, good looking type mixed crowd. I liked it a lot and this place was VERY hip and trendy to add. I would go back on a sat. night. And I did hear that Sat. is a lot better than other nights.
