After reading about Icon on Zagat buzz, i had to experience it for myself so I had a dinner there tonight. This place is a gem and wish I had known about Icon before.
The food is full of flavor. It looks as if there is a very creative Chef who understands the flavors and balance and it translates it in every dish he prepares.
Service was good as well and I am excited to come back and try new dishes every time.
Disaster at its finest!. It was the night before Valentines Day, and I was spending two nights at the W hotel, with a friend for her birthday. We decided to have dinner at Icon. We should have known, at first glance, the place was empty. First, they changed the menu, so all you can order are appetizers. Five choices for forty dollars. So we decided to give it a try. The first, was a slice of sushi grade Salmon, with a dollop of ? Zero taste. The second was a piece of sea bass, which was very good. The third was some kind of duck that was so salty it was un-edible. The forth was a piece of sirloin that I requested well done, and was served raw. The food presentation was so un-appealing, all I kept thinking ?this looks like a skid mark? and finally the chocolate souffle was so hard that I asked the waiter ?would you eat this?. Needless to say, the waiter apologized. He picked up the bottle of wine we ordered with the meal, which unfortunately will not influence me to return again.
ICON, what a jewel. I went to Icon during restaurant week...what a wonderful experience! Each plate was more fabulous than the next. At first I thought that the "small plates" wouldn't be filling. I couldn't have been more wrong. I tried the 6 plate selection and enjoyed every morsel. I have every intention of going back to try everything that I didn't order. This is a MUST go to restaurant!!!!
One Stop "Eat"... Great food and fabulous service!. At ICON, the service is grand, the atmosphere relaxed, and they fit our taste and personality to a T!!! What was even more impressive is they even got us in at the last minute during their busy restaurant week madness without reservations, which saved us from running around trying to find somewhere else to eat.
Best Lunch Ever!. WOW!!! This was the most amazing lunch fare yet!!!! The skylight terrance where I dined, was so subtle, chic, posh, and elegant all together. Don't even get me started on the phanominal food, the Chef here really knows what he's doing!!! BRAVO! I would recommend thi place to all my friends!
Hidden treasure in Midtown. I must say that I was a little skeptical about this place when I arrived because of the fact that it was empty, however like the old saying goes,"you can't judge a book by its cover" I sat in anyway and to my surprise had one of the most pleasing dining experiences. The waitstaff took great care of myself and even offered me some reading material since I was sitting by myself. I had ordered for my first course the chicken lollipops which were amazing. For my main course I had a steak with spinach puree and lobster mashed potatoes and for dessert I had the fried doughnuts. I must say that overall I had a great experience and intend to return. You should definitely check this place out.......
horrible service, unattentive, never clean table, overpriced. disappointing experience, when you think of the W Hotel, you would figure good service, decor and more, food is overpriced, along with poor service, table was never clean, i just dont' recommend this place. Food was ok, nothing great, small portion.
Really Good. I was there about a week ago and had the chance to meet the Chef. The food was great and the chef was engaging and kind. The Snickers dessert is AWESOME. I definitely recommend Icon.
Disappointing. W Hotels are known for their bars and their restaurants. I have tried this place a handful of times, in the hopes that it would be better than it was before this time around. The food is okay, but I have had better and for far less money. The lunch menu is tired, and the pre-fixe lunch special rarely changes. I expected more.
A Great Date Place. The W hotel is always a place for class and service and Icon is no exception. The ambiance is warm and inviting and the service is absolutley impeccable. The food was outstanding and we had homeade donut munchkin type things for dessert.. I don't eat donuts but and these were absolutely devine. We were seated next to Nia Long too so I got a little star struck. :-)
