In Short – From the powder blue storefront and neo-'60s sign to the green grass foyer tiles and shelving against gallery white walls, this 650-square-foot boutique isn't your father's candy store. There's not an additive, emulsifier or $8 grande anything to be found. Local espresso, coffee and tea--from Gimme Coffee in Ithica and Serendipitea in Long Island City--are reasonably priced. The big ticket is a box of 48 Jacques Torres' truffles, and chocolates have a three week shelf life.

My husband accompanied me on a shopping experience recently to Henri Bendel. Like the Gossip Girl that I am, I left him alone at Alison Nelson's Chocolate Bar on the third floor for a bit of R&R. When I returned he had ordered the what seemed like the entire menu and was indulging in everything from soup to caramel! What was a 2 hour tour turned into a full day affair and I must say, I was delighted! What better way to spend the day in New York but at a great cafe eating candy and watching the world of Henri Bendel go by? I'm still on a bit of a sugar high but can highly recommend the peanut butter sandwich on chocolate bread and the harvest salad. If you can believe it, that was course one. The staff was wonderful and I, must admit, I felt like a princess. Enchanted, for sure.
Sweet, Salty, Gooey and Grand!

Came to New York after watching the Food Network's show called 'Unwrapped' and went straight to chocolate bar to buy the full line of candy bars they call Retro Bars. Delicious!! Delectable!! Delightful! The place was packed so I went to their second location at a store called Henri Bendel on 5th Ave and had lunch. They had an incredible line of bars there called graffiti bars and bought those as well. Sweet and salty, gooey and grand. I recommend the warm soup, cold wine and hot sandwiches! I really wish they'd open a chocolate bar hotel!
