Past glory....
I hadn't been here since 2005 or 2006. It is not the same. The prices seemed to be a little high, the service has downgraded some too. Service was slow even though there were only a total of 5 customers. The owner sitting and scoping the parking lot for customers should have been a hint. What a shame! The pasta with prosciutto had no proscuitto. My pasta with pesto, goat cheese, chicken etc. was just ok. Too oily and only had a tiny token dollop of goat cheese. Soup was overpriced $$5.00 for a cup of pasta e fagiole and $7.00 for a cup of lobster bisque. No a do-over! And I used to like the place too!

Yet another lousy NJ Italian.
*sigh*
It never fails to amaze me that with all of Manhattan and the myrriad godd to great Italian places across the river that New Jersey restaurants act like they are in friggin Kansas. Vespa serves ARA Italian food, formula dishes and sauces prepped by a commercial food service. If I'm wrong, then Vespa has done an outstanding job of making incredibly mediocre food that does not deserve to be called Italian. The "margarite pizza" was just a cheese pizza, no basil anywhere on the thing, and no garlic. In fact, NONE of the food had any taste of garlic detectibel anywhere...what kind of Italian food doesn't have some hint of garlic? A caesar salad was just iceberg lettuce in oil and vinegar with tasteless parm grated on it and stale bread cubes. Bruchette: diced tomato on dry toast. There may have been some specs of basil that tasted like nothing. Listen to me VESPA, the great thing about Italian food is that it is simple, done with fresh quality ingredients, no corn starch. In New York, all the great ingredients are readily available. Get yourself some decent olive oil, fresh garlic, fresh basil, fresh oregano, quality Romano and mozzerella cheeses and make your own meats, don't just nuke a "patty " and swamp it in the sauce ARA sent you. Buy some freshly made pasta. You could do that, but instead you ship this junk in from Kansas, or I dunno where. Vespa is just as bad as that Roberto's Italian "Gourmet" place a few hundred feet away. Junk.

Best Italian in this area.
This is the best italian restaurant we've tried since moving to NJ from NYC. Fresh and flavorful. Good service, good wine, reasonably priced.

Good Food.
Great service, Good food, big place. Moderately priced. Valet parking seemed to be the only option. Not so much into mandatory valet. They could use a slightly larger fishtank for their fish. The food was really tasty and I would recommend it.
