Unpleasant at best. I was really excited to try Mignon after moving to Rutherford, based on all the rave reviews I'd seen and how cute the place looks from the street. I have to say, my first experience there last night will be my last.

The dining room stunk of an incredibly foul bathroom odor. We should have left right then and there. We were then presented with complementary bread served with steak tartare. Usually I would be pleased with this, but there's something disconcerting about eating raw beef in a room that smells like an overflowed toilet.

My boyfriend's duo of filet and short ribs was decent, not great. The mashed potato and sauteed spinach sides were pretty good. My scallops entree was completely inedible. I don't know what on earth the sauce was intended to be, but it is possible it smelled worse than the poop air encompassing the restaurant. The menu doesn't elaborate on how anything is served. It simply says "broiled scallops" or "broiled shrimp." My boyfriend confirmed that I should not eat the food and I moved my plate away from me to get away from the smell.

Our waitress was pretty unfriendly and rude, but I wouldn't be happy if I had to work amid sewage stench either so I'll give her a pass. The bottom line is that the decor is the only thing this place has going for it and that cannot overcome the bad odors, bad food, and bad service. I sincerely hope that we dined there on an off night and they were having temporary plumbing issues. I can't imagine that Mignon would have so many positive reviews if this were a regular occurrence. My advice to anyone who does choose to dine here would be to stick to the beef and avoid the seafood at all costs.

The raw seafood gave me a horrible bacterial infection!. I ordered a 1/2 dozen raw oysters as my appetizer. Most of them tasted fine, but 1 or 2 had an odd taste. Needless to say, I spent the next 4 days with a horrible upset stomach and most of my time in the bathroom...including having to miss a day of work. When I finally went to the doctor, I was diagnosed with a bacterial infection that took a strong anti-biotic to get rid of. I consume raw seafood, be it shellfish or sushi, on a very regular basis, and I have never had a reaction like this. Not a good sign for this restaurant! That alone means I will NEVER go back! The rest of the meal was OK, but not worth the prices!

Overpriced, not friendly staff and poor service. Went there with a reservation for a "free birthday" dinner which they have been promoting for a long time.

Called a few days before and spoke to the manager and he said just bring ID. A few days later, went there for my birthday with some friends and i was told by the waitress, we are no longer doing that. I asked why then was i told just a few days ago to just bring my photo id? I heard that you do this all the time?

Simply said, we found out yesterday the owner does not want to do this anymore. Done. Period. I asked if they would honor this or call him and ask him and explained if I didnt make this "birthday reservation" i could understand them saying no. Bottom line, they wouldnt call the owner, didnt honor the free birthday dinner. Food isnt that good and very over priced, too small, no atmosphere and the service stunk. Parking is horrible, lucky if you find a place to park. Stand in a crowded area and wait for your table, the place is small and you are stuck like sardines with 10 or so other people in a tiny area waiting.

Do not recommend. Rather go to a "less trendy" place get good food, better prices and friendly staff.

Terrible place, would never go there again. I asked the owner to call me and never did. Not even a courtesy call. Not good advertising, word of mouth is everything.

Used to look forward to going. I used to go to Mignon for special occasions as it has the menu of a New York City steakhouse and can pull it off. But, last time I went we were disappointed. The meat (had a sampler of various cuts of meat) was chewy and overcooked and we did not have the same attention from the staff. We decided that we were played out on Mignon and took it off our list.

Unfotunate event ruins this restaurant for me....... I've been going to this restaurant for quite sometime and am displeased to say that I will no longer be eating there. After enjoying some of their reasonably priced overly seasoned lamb chops I decided to finish the mashed potatoes. Inside was an already chewed up piece of mint flavored gum. I mentioned to the manager what I had found and she declined to accept fault for the incident and offered to buy us coffee and dessert. I am disgusted to have eaten at such an unsanitary location.

Mediocre steaks. Given the price for the steaks we ordered, we were not satisfied upon our second visit last night. My T-Bone (ordered medium) came medium-well cooked, and my wife's Filet Mignon was everything but tender, in fact is was grossly overcooked and rather chewy. The dry flowers in an old Pellegrino bottle are just tacky, the chipped plates should be replaced, and necessary roof repairs should be done before opening to guests. Also, I should not have to write these things, the owner should know them.

This was our second visit to Mignon, we remembered not having been satisfied the first time we went (but still gave them a second chance). I believe we won't be back for a third visit.

Great Place. This place is very good for any occasion. Not as romantic as Cafe Matisse across the street but it's a great place for a well priced steak. Simliar to a NYC steakhouse the meats are great and we enjoyed the sides as well. This place can be romantic and is not a good place for children.

BYOB everywhere in Rutherford is helpful on the pockets. Our bill here for an appitizer, 2 steaks with 2 sides was under $100.

Good Steak/Great atmosphere. From the chef who brought Village Gourmet to you comes this sophisticated yet unpretentious steak house. Great food, done to perfection and as desired. Freindly staff, cozy, great date night attraction.
