“The dimly-lit ambience and cushioned booths make for great comfy date place.”
“The service at the bar, and at the tables, is excellent.”
“It has great location and I can always count on getting there when I need a really good meal.”
“Almost everything else on their menu is good though.”
“It's a nice, special occassion place, but very loud and not at all romantic.”
“30/pp. Worth every penny, and we always leave Houston's utterly satiated, with a big grin, counting the minutes till we come back.”
“Food and service was not as good as in the past.”
“Truly worth the wait, No matter what you order it is good.”
“Houston's has long been one of my favorite restaurants, bith in NYC and elsewhere.”

This place is great for a casual to semi-fancy dinner or lunch while in the Flatiron area. The menu consists of various appetizers and entress--- I highly recommend the spinach and artichoke dip, along with the infamous California Burger which has avocado on top. The shoe string french fries are to die for!
Huge Bar Great food.
Just happen to walk past about 7:30 pm and saw this busy bar scene. I walked in to check it out. It was packed but a couple left and I scored a seat. The bone-in prime rib looked real good at a nearby table. Their generous portion came almost immediately but done to perfection medium rare. Ordered a zinfindel, it was a generous glass served by friendly bartenders.
Since I had only the entree with 2 drinks, the price was also quite reasonable for an excellent meal. Fantasic discovery!
Best spinach dip in town. Despite the name change, Hillstone still delivers on a happening after work scene and solid food. I hop in here frequently for an after-work glass of wine while splitting spinach dip and ribs with friends. Some nights we splurge on the brownie sundae which is worth every calorie. It never disappoints. Try and get there early if you want to score a seat at the bar. While its prices could be a little more affordable, you just can't put a price on spinach dip that is that good.
Love the Ribs!. I love the ribs at this place. Went to another place on Park Ave that is supposed to be known for their ribs, but it doesn't compare to this place.
Great Service. I had an excellent dining experience at Hillstone. I would recommend it to anyone who is visiting New York.
fantastic.
love it... fantastic food service drinks ambience, never fails, french dip amazing, salads very very good and just the right amount, daily specials and the burgers are great, the tuna a must doesnt feel like a chain check out the LA one
tried their sushi here for the first time at the weekend, excellent and well worth it..
goto park avenue, midtown one has limited menu and slow
Best After Work Spot. I went to Houston's on Park Ave on a Tuesday after work. I pass there daily on the way downtown and it always looked as if the people are having a real nice time. Well they are ! , The ambiance / lighting / decor/seating is just right, I sat at the bar. The bartenders were professional, friendly and no matter how busy they were (and believe me for a Tuesday this place was packed) they made small talk and answered your questions with "No Attitude". I observed several couples enter the restaurant and the staff immediately acknowledged them , informed them of wait time , kept note where they were waiting at the bar (remember I said this place was packed) and informed them when their table was ready. Now that is service ! I will definitely make this one of my fave spots. Next time I will bring friends and have dinner because each plate I saw I wanted to taste something on it.
Unlike Any Other Chain!. You must try the Veggie Burger! They are simply remarkable and never fail to please. The seasonal vegetable selection is divine. Butternut squash salad is another of my favorites. There is occasionally a wait but the bar is very well staffed and usually brimming with interesting characters. The service is impeccable...servers really aim to please!
Roomy banquettes and hefty portions typify this polished American grill that's popular for business deals and special occasions..
In Short
Burnished brass and stained wood complement roughly mortared brick and the occasional plant. Amid ubiquitous earth tones, corporate types and small parties (celebrating or simply living large) occupy deep booths done up in fine upholstery and lit from above by pin spotlights. Burgers, prime rib and steaks are the specialties of the house, but the menu also includes salmon, salads, pork chops and roasted chicken.
The Change!!!!!!!!!!!!!. All day @ work I was carving the New England Clam Chowder and my Hawiian Steak. Get to the restaurant and to my surprise the whole entire menu is change. I look at the waiter and ask him, "what happen to the menu." I was very disappointed but I still was able to get my steak. The T-Bone Steak is actually the Hawiian Steak they just change the name.
My visit. The other week I took my better half to Houston's on Park Ave, for a birthday dinner. When we sat I was met with some BIG changes!!! The name on the menu was different, a lot of the items were all different, some for the good and some for the bad!! I must admit, there was a lot of new items that sparked my interest. Because, if Houston's does ANYTHING, they do it nice, new, tasteful, and pleasing to the eye! I've been a die-hard fan of this restaurant since they first appeared in NY in '97 in Long Island. But back to my visit, we were sat immediately, and our waiter (Arthur) was professional and helpful. I had the prime rib and my guest had the ribs. They were both amazing. And to those Houston's regulars the spinach dip was awesome as usual. At the end of the meal the staff all came out and helped me embarrass my friend with a surprise dessert and song (cheesy, I know, but you've got to love it!!) Overall, it was a good time!!
