Editorial Review for InForm Fitness – by Drew Pisarra

The Scene
Targeted toward busy professionals, the slow-motion weight training zealously advocated by owner Adam Zickerman promises results from 20- to 30-minute sessions scheduled once or twice a week. The technique relies on pushing your muscles until they fail, so don't think his trainers are going to be easy on you--even if they are wearing pressed slacks, dress shirts and shined shoes instead of sweats and sneaks.

The Workout
There's nary a treadmill or a bicycle in sight; the few dumbells look antiquarian. What you'll see instead are Nautilus and MedX machines, many augmented by Zickerman himself so that the resistance corresponds more organically with the range of motion. Skeptics may scoff, but one single session will convince you of this much: Slowing down your reps will speed up your burn and put you in a meditative frame of mind.

Insider Tips

Know Before You Go

Slow-motion weightlifting is actually not a new idea. Bob Hoffman, a bodybuilder and health writer from the 1940s, was an early advocate for the technique.

The Extras

In the book "The Power of 10," Zickerman and his co-author Bill Schley outline the nutritional component to this fitness plan--which discourages eating white carbohydrates among other things.

If you want a kick a.. work out that only takes 30 min. this is the place. I started about 2 weeks ago. I always look forward for my next training session with Mike Rogers, my tainer, he is fantastic. He really pushes me hard and I love him for it. My muscles may be like jello after the work out but I love it. I highly recomend this place to everyone. It's worth the investment.

Pros: Trainers, Front Desk, Clean

Cons: n/a

The 30 minute workout sounded way too good to be true actually, but tried it on a friend's recommendation and have been really impressed with the results. If you do this technique expect to experience a challenging workout. My trainer (Khatun), is not only professional and supportive, but incredibly knowledgeable. Plus everyone in the gym seems really invested in my success. Nice folks!

Pros: Staff, Beautiful space, Time efficient

Cons: , Best times taken, Parking
