Editorial Review for Tosler Davis – by Sandra Ramani
The Scene
Founded by English expat stylist Alan Tosler and expert colorist Sean Davis, Tosler Davis is one of the city's best-kept hair secrets. Regulars like it that way; the low-key vibe is part of the appeal. With the reception desk and color team nestled into one long, skinny, sun-drenched room, and cutting area in a slightly larger nook, the apartment-like feel plays up that sense of privacy; sleek design, Eames chairs and quirky touches like an antique barber tools display, keep it chic.
The Services
The staff has worked an average of 15 years in the biz, so chances are you'll be seen by a pro. Each stylist and colorist has his or her own technique (some colorists use foils; others "paint" strands,) but the result is always modern, easy to maintain and tailored to the client. Free bang trims or conditioning treatments for regulars are available, as are products by Terax, Kusco-Murphy and Aeto.
Editorial content is independent of paid advertisers. Any expenses are paid for by Citysearch.

Know Before You GoAlan Tosler, owner, works on most Mondays, but even if he is not available, a receptionist is always on hand to book appointments.

If I could give more stars I would. TS is hands down the best kept secret in town. Everyone that works there is down to earth and sweet. I have been to Bumble and Bumble and John Sahag - NO ONE compares. Alan is a hair cutting rock star but totally unassuming. I leave the salon looking like a celebrity. I've been getting my hair done at TS for 9 years now and still go there all the way from Boston with my toddler in tow. I'm completely addicted and you will be too.

Had one of the best cuts of my life (i have obnoxiously fine hair with a very odd wave in it) from Tuula; rebooked 8 weeks later for trim to find she'd left! If only I'd known. Liz did next cut and while it was good, was nothing like the first cut - didn't understand my look or what I needed so I went in with cool Sally Hershberger like layers and came out with a boring, but precise, bob.
