Great Stylist with Great Eyes – The atmosphere of the place is very energetic yet relaxing. They offer an extensive tea list, so that you can enjoy your waiting time, the music is vibrant and the staffs make you feel comfortable. Younghee tries to give you a haircut that goes with your style and personality that also reflects today's trend. She is really good at understanding your style and executes her ideas in a very skillful way. She gives a haircut that looks good, and looks even better after two months. I always get a complement from other people about my hair.
Best cut I ever had--WORTH EVERY PENNY! – I have been to Younghee twice now after a recommendation from my roommate who got referred by her coworker. This is the way of Younghee--you love her cut and end up referring three or four friends to her. She gives you a cut that not only looks great but keeps it's shape and style when you have to take care of it at home. She tailors each cut to your personality, face shape and lifestyle. It looks modern (yet not ridiculously young) and sexy. She's very attentive but not intrusive. She recommends good product but there's no pressure to buy. Her staff is attentive and helpful. It's a testiment to the quality of her cut that you won't need to see her more than every three or four months. You'll look fabulous and it's worth every penny.
Not exactly your best interest in mind – There is pressure to get products/services you may or may not need. I used to go here for about a year and I expressed interest in getting thermal conditioning (aka perm). They called the owner over and she was supportive, the woman I went to regularly said I would look great with it, so I was looking forward to it. I was very unhappy with the result and expressed it. The reaction was not mean, but it wasn't very sympathetic. I ended up leaving this salon with a bad taste in my mouth. The thermal reconditioning was very expensive and I wish they either would have said that the look would not have been good for me or they would have fixed the end result that I was unhappy with. I just feel they tell you what you want to hear in order to make more money.
a luxurious treat – Younghee is VERY expensive. It's a treat. Not your weekly necessity, unless you have ahigh paying job, rich parents, or rich spouse. The staff and atmosphere are okay. Nice receptionists. They offer you tea or coffee. Not snotty. Not super friendly (unless you agreed to buy their overly priced products/services). I do find the staff to be pushy w/ products. They subtiley plant ideas in my head by telling me "You would look GREAT if you...." I then find myself straying from my budget. Be prepare to pay. Go in w/ a Mission. Stay strong. Stay w/in your budget. Remember, just say NO to additional services.
the worst haircut of my life. – I have never cried after getting a haircut before. I went in with hair and inch or so below my shoulders and told them that I was growing my hair long and I wanted some style cut into it while it continued growing. I reiterated several times that I wanted LONG hair. They butchered so many layers into it! What's left looks wispy and straw-like. The pieces at the crown are only 3" long! It was the worst experience of my life. And I can only imagine how it will grow out. DO NOT GO HERE!
To each their own – I had a haircut with the owner and was excited by the consultation. Lots of theories on hair and beauty. Maybe my expectation was too high but I shouldn't expect a miracle based on other's experience. I got a hair cut that was ok. Too much layering which makes my hair hard to maintain on a daily basis. Maybe this was a difference of vision, I like a more polished look when the salon is about being wild and funky. The staff there was not particullary friendly or competent. The attitude was not overbearing but can do without it. Undecided about if I'll go back.
not great – they seem to only give one type of haircut and the haircut is out of style.
