Pretty, sparkling light and Glitter is NOT always the nicest – I am a Child Care Provider - thought it would be nice to take my children in care to New Rock Bowling Alley to bowl and chose New Rock for the secured parking. Which was a BAD discission. If the Mayor reads this I am ashamed to this city. During school breaks/holidays the prices are increased for the reason of the children being on school break. At a time you'd think to help parents and care givers to find kid friendly activities to get involved in and not have children sit in front of a television or video game and encourage them get involved in activities to prevent obesity or other negative involvement - there are establishments that are increasing prices with NO display of the increase.
The total for three children to bowl today Thursday, April 21, 2011 was $35.52 due to the fact that as told by Manager "the children in New Rochelle are on school break and its considered a holiday" therefore prices are drastically increased - it is not mentioned on the pricing menu. the menue indicates $4.50. Today I learned it was not so and when asked for a refund even though the kids had not put their shoes on was told no refund would be granted by the cashier, asked for the manager whom after questioning this unposted price he seemed to get agitated but also he also notice I had food which was in bags informed me and made it a good fact to bring me to the door like he had to repremand me to point it out and say "NO OUTSIDE FOOD IS ALLOWED" - I am sure other folks walk in with their already eaten food from Apple Bee's - But then I was sure I wanted my refund and instructed the kids to put their shoes back on the counter. He granted me the refund. But the cashier seemed to not feel justified she asked for the change she had given me which was $4.48, I said you only need to give me back $35.52, she said "I need the change back as per the manager", I gave the change back along with the receipt to her and she still could not figure out if I gave you back the change then you should give me back the two $20's I gave you, she commince to count the change I gave her and then count the change in her hand as well. I informed her that was unnecessary and she struck back that it was not call for for my remark. My dear is quite obvious in mathematics and same thing just yest. I was in there to bowl (two adults and one child)to make sure this was a place I'd be comfortable to take the children - my total was $29.25 gave the cashier a $50 and he gave me back $50.75. Had I been ruthless to walk away with a gain but I pulled him to the side and told him of his mistake and gave him back the $50 and received my $20 change.
I left New Roc and went across the bridge and bowled elsewhere for $20 for all four kids -while a New Roc the 4th kid did not want to bowl - the Bronx lane had better lighting and environment was kid-friendly with many other children there as well as there was free parking and curb side parking
I would NOT recommend this place if your looking into expenses, better lighting, even in the day the lights are out so you will get disco feel.
