Editorial Review for The Bathroom – by Melissa Kirsch
The Scene
Tucked away on a quiet West Village street, the Bathroom is both a browser's paradise and a beauty product-lover's dream. A small warren of white rooms and hardwood floors packed to the ceilings with merchandise, jazz on the sound system and a luscious combination of scents from all the potions within make for a heavenly shopping experience.
The Goods
Head here for the big brands at the most reasonable prices: You'll find full lines by L'Occitane, Dr. Hauschka, Ole Henriksen, Frédéric Fekkai, Molton Brown and Kusco-Murphy, plus linens, plush robes and vintagey bath items like jasmine toothpaste in apothecary-style packaging. A large baby section includes a massive selection of Europe's Mustela products, and the store also sells soap dishes, trash bins, shaving mirrors and soy-based scented candles.

Im writing this because the owner of the store(Colin) is a friend of mine. I'm a fitness trainer and send MANY of my clients to The Bathroom for skin care and bathroom products. I must say each and every one mentions they are ecstatic with the service, value, and beauty of the store and their experience. Keep smiling Colin as you offer the West Village and Manhattan a quality product with class and professionalism. So many of my friends and clients appreciate what you do:-) Sincerely, Dave Janik
Pros: Beautiful store and amazing products
Cons: People wish there were 5 more just like it throughout Manhattan.

I have to say, I am a little surprised by some of the less-than-stellar reviews. Each time I shop here, I find what I need and always walk away with a little something extra, which is sometimes just a helpful suggestion from the staff for the next time I visit. I suffer from some skin problems, and I gotta say that when I finally went to a dermatologist at the Tribeca Skin Center, he recommended the same organic facial products that the Manager here had insisted I use a year prior to my doctor visit. Great for gifts or for selfish lavishes. I've got friends and family hooked on the place and the products. And if you're looking for fake smiles and inferior products, look elsewhere...like the Manhattan Mall.
Pros: products, environment, knowledgeable staff
Cons: some prices mean splurging but it's usually worth it
