The Art of Beauty - The Beauty of Art - An Upper East Side Hair Salon

  • Corrective and creative color
  • Precision cuts
  • Fine art and handmade jewelry

Hip and stylish, MIDOMA salon brings the "great hair district" to the eastern edge of Manhattan's Upper East Side. Tucked into 75th street, the warm, art-house-style salon offers the kind of individual attention only celebrities can expect to receive in this town. Your entire service, from start to finish, is done by a trained professional, not an intern. Michael, the owner and head stylist, wanted to combine Fifth Avenue expertise with a homey neighborhood feel. He wasn't looking to create an assembly line for hair or even a one-stop shop for all hair needs. Midoma cuts, styles, and colors hair. "What we do, we do well," he says. You'll appreciate the attentive consults, the careful color analysis, the friendly atmosphere, the original art on the walls, and the fact that eight weeks later, your hair still looks amazing.

I just had the Milbon treatment at Midoma and it's an amazing new addition to their already great salon! My hair feels like silk....literally!! it's amazing. Michael Shwarzer is a true artist and hair designer. Midoma is one of my favorite places on the planet. Midoma is the perfect mix of new, cutting-edge, fashion forward salon without the irritating qualities of the uptight Madison Avenue salon or downtown too-fabulous-for-any-human-being salons. I just love going there.

How do you like to be treated? If you prefer professionalism, style, attentiveness and exceptional service, then treat yourself to a visit to Midoma. From the minute you walk in, you are welcomed by a friendly staff who can't seem to do enough to make you feel comfortable. The atmosphere is relaxed and the salon is like a retreat away from the hectic noise and commotion of New York City. What really matters the most is that you get a great stylish haircut from some of new York's top stylists. Everyone worries when they change salons or have a new person "touch" their hair. I had the pleasure of having my hair styled by Kao. He was very attentive and wanted to know exactly what i wanted him to do. Not only was the cut fantastic, but the washing and "head massaging" was worth the trip from the Upper West Side all the way to First Avenue and 75th. Kao is a talented professional who is caring, friendly and works his craft like an artist. I will go back to Midoma and will ask for Kao. You should do the same.

Pros: Kao's talent

Cons: Should have gone to Midoma sooner!
