“The food here is good, but certainly nothing amazing, and it doesn't explain the massive groups of people who are always here.”
“They are served with a free appetizer and the portions are perfect for lunch.”
“However, their popularity has yet to slow down, and I still find myself drawn to their ambiance and delectable reputation.”
Best Thai Food in the City at the lowest price. Probably the best Thai food I've ever had... and the cheapest in NYC! I want to come here every day!
Two Words: CURRY PUFFS!. Great set-up - Very trendy. Located not too far from a train station. Definitely recommend the Curry Puffs. The Drunk Man Noodles was good. Pad Thai was good as well. the Red Curry Chicken was alright. The fresh summer rolls weren't that good. The puffy duck appetizer was not so good. The wait-service was very responsive. Prompt refilling of my cup of water. Only thing is that it is cramped - the wait-service often bumped into my chair due to the lack of space for them to walk in.
Thai addiction. Amazing. Delicious. Affordable. I've been to Spice twice. The 1st time, a Saturday night w/no reservation. Big mistake. I was starved beyond belief & there was a long wait. It seemed as though the whole of Manhattan was waiting for a table. So crowded that my friend & I couldn't get a bar stool or anything, kind of leaned up against the wall & waited. The 2nd time was during the week at lunch w/no wait. Walked in, sat down. Wait or no wait, JUST GO. And GO NOW. This place is so good, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. I had never eaten Thai before & now it's my new fave obsession. My friend & I are now addicted. We want it all the time. The staff is extremely friendly & don't seem bothered by questions about the different spices. I have a food allergy & sometimes servers seem bothered by questions about ingredients, but the staff here seem very unbothered, extremely helpful & knowledgeable. The atmosphere is really sensual. Not very much light, the seating intimate. You are in very close proximity to other guests but it does not matter. The food takes over & you forget that you are, maybe, too close for comfort. The food is so good you want to share it with everyone around you. Both times I had to force myself to stop eating so that I had enough to take home to have it again the next day. I don't think there is a bad or even mediocre item on the menu. I highly recommend the Martini Shrimp & Curry Panang w/Chicken. Your food comes out almost immediately. And your bill is far from expensive. I love love love love love this place with all my heart. At the time, I was a visitor to NY. I will be moving there in the next few months and can't wait to be a regular. The only bad thing I have to say is that when nature calls the bathroom is a onesie and is almost always occupied. They have a second bathroom on the lower level where the servers sit on their breaks and the area smells pretty gross. But other than that one small detail, GO & GO NOW.
yummy cheap thai food. This place serves great thai food for very reasonable prices- everyone in my group loved what they ordered and the Curry Puffs appetizer was soooo good. The only drawback is it is often very crowded and noisy, and on busy nights you'll definitely have to wait. Service was pretty nice though, and if you're waiting for a table someone usually comes by and lets you look at a menu/order a drink.
great food & atmosphere. I really like this restaurant. Food is good and the atmosphere is cool too. However, this place is always crowded and noisy.

Yuck!. Not a traditional Thai affair. This place is for nearby NYU campus dwellers. If you like traditional thai food. Stay away. The food is not fresh. I order the lychee thai ice tea. Lychee taste like it was from the can. The Pineapple juice my g/f got was from the can too i believe. The Massaman Curry was disgusting. Can you say watered down? The non traditionial thai food might be your best bet, otherwise... stay clear. In my opinion if i had to get thai food i suggest Pongsri on Bayard or Thai Angel on Grand St.
My favorite restaurant. I have been to Spice countless times, and although the wait is sometimes long, it's worth it. The atmosphere is great-- always buzzing with happy customers-- the food is delicious (love the massaman curry) and the drinks are different and tasty! To top is all off, the service has always been right on point and every time the bill comes, it's always way less than expected. I love Spice!!
wait for seat, all else perfect!. the only thing that annoys about the place is the longgggg wait - they will say its a 15 min wait which means one hour... anything longer and ur best bet is to try some other day... but the food and the price makes up for it! and so does the crowd (nice young crowd) def try the 6 o'clock spicy fried rice! or anything else for that matter... jst be prepared to wait for the sitting...the food comes in pretty fast though... and steaming hot and delicious.... I just thought I'd start sharing my food experiences in NYC. It's been two years so now I think I know the scene well enough to compare and decide which I like better!
Its a miss. I came here a few years ago, and had some garlic dish that tasted awful and not at all like garlic. The decor is cool (the bathroom particularly) but the prices are not as reasonable as everyone says. There is not much of a selection either. There are much better thai places in the city.
