Great food

by wtaw71 at Citysearch

I was totally taken by surprise. It was nine of us and we were going to go to a Thai restaurant. Because that Thai place was too crowded, we just walked a couple of blocks to this one. I had no expectation. It's small and casual. Clean. No ambience really, clearly a place you go just for food. Service wasn't great, but it was friendly and efficient enough for the price. They were very attentive to us and got the orders right. The food was amazing. I am from Bangladesh, and I have tried several Indian restaurants in the city but prefer to cook my own meal when I want curry. But this is a restaurant I would go back to. The puri I had for an appetizer was great. My entree, goat meat with spinach, made extra desi-spicy per my request, was fantastic. Everyone at the table was raving about the food, and the only complaints we had were that we were too full. I recommend it if you want good curry & decent service and don't care about the ambience.

  • Pros: Great Food
  • Cons: No Ambience

OK Indian on the UWS

by nickkkkyyyy at Citysearch

I got delivery order and it was perfectly fine..... although I did order Lamb Curry with Vegetables - AND I did NOT find ONE slice of lamb! Excusing this mistake, the flavours are OK, sure I have tasted better, but for the price and convenience of having a OK Indian on the UWS it's fine.

solid neighborhood indian food

by vissidarte at Citysearch

The decor is what initially got me in the door. It is so nice and clean and bright, unlike most inexpensive Indian restaurants. Definitely my favorite on the UWS and I have tried 8 or 10 others.

The food is quite good. I like the saag and the chicken makhani. Excellent prices and big portions. I always take my whole family here when they visit.
