“love the atmosphere here.”
“I'm glad I tried some other places, because I learned that I was in the best place all along.”
“They are all very nice people, but with a few exceptions lack the necessary experience as instructors to lead a strong practice.”
“Teachers and staff are nice, but as stated below, the pricing system can be a little confusing.”
solid opportunity for a great yoga class. I take the classes at the hot studio and have to give Carl the instructor a shout out. He runs a smooth, solid class. He also takes the time to come over and correct a form or a position - in this city where class are always packed, it is really nice to see a teacher take time and correct a move (not just change you themselves and walk away). It is a quiet, mellow class.
Best Yoga on the Upper East Side Regular Temp & Hot Studio. I love the atmosphere here. People are kind, genuine, the studios are peaceful and the teachers genuinely care for each individual and remember your name. They remember what you need to work on and some even offer to work with you for a few minutes after class. They also have a hot studio a few blocks from the regular studio too, where you can get an intense workout and detox. I tried Pure Yoga, but it was so corporate and austere. I didn't feel the warmth there that I do at New York Yoga and they claim to have so many more classes, yet New York Yoga's schedule is geared more towards everyone - not just people who don't work. They have early AM classes and late evening classes. I'm glad I tried some other places, because I learned that I was in the best place all along.
Mediocre Instruction. Recently visited the studio -- the space was OK, but the instructors were mediocre. They are all very nice people, but with a few exceptions lack the necessary experience as instructors to lead a strong practice. I would recommend checking out Pure Yoga on the UES or heading downtown to Kula.
Best yoga Studio Upper East Side. New York Yoga is the Best Yoga Studio on the Upper East Side. I live on 86 Street between 2nd and 3rd and loe the 2 studio option. Totally different vibe at York Avenue..very zen but here is a little secret.. They have the best Asthanga teacher in the city Christopher Hildebrandt for mysore 7-9 Monday thru Friday in the morning and his sister Erika Sat and Sun. The Hot Studio rocks with Carl Horowitz, Bethany Lyons and Kristi Clark. So I can get what I need when I need it. I went to check our Pure Yoga as it is across the street and I hated Pure Yoga.. pushy saleperson and worse its underground. They made it nice inside but the hot yoga room is lukewarm.. i barely sweat and the girl claimed to be an actress on broadway.. who cares.. Come to New York Yoga if you want the real deal.. best yoga.
Safe yoga bet. I've gone to the room temperature vinyasa classes here. Not the most exciting, but also pretty solid. Teachers and staff are nice, but as stated below, the pricing system can be a little confusing. Worth going to if you're in the neighborhood.
Excellent teachers and staff. Gorgeous studios. Get everything in writing.. The studio continued to charge me after my one year membership was fulfilled, though I had notified the studio by e-mail that I would not be renewing. I was first told that the extra charge would be refunded, and then told it could not be refunded due to an unpublished studio policy. I had signed up online, and therefore did not have a contract. Bummer. Again, I love absolutely everything about this place but the bureaucrats. They're not very zen.
New York Yoga- Hot Studio +++++ Must Experience!.
New York Yoga's HOT studio located on 132 E 85th (Lexington) is the real deal for Hot Vinyasa. If you like a nice vigorous vinyasa the heat will help you go deeper into the poses. After this class, I felt cleansed like I had just taken a shower from the inside out. Toxins, gone! It's also a great alternative to Bikram if you're looking to switch up your routine but want to still practice in 100+ degree rooms!
The facilities are super clean. The showers are a God send. It's also super accessible with a convenient cross town bus dropping you off very close to the location and subway is also near by--and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful.
Editorial Review. Yoga studio offers classes for all levels, including Vinyasa, Hot yoga, On-Demand Internet yoga, prenatal yoga and more.
