John Carter is AMAZING and a PERFECTIONIST!. When I arrived for my appointment I was greeted by John with a smile, like he already knew me. I was asked right away if I would like a refreshment and I really felt at home.

We spoke about what I was looking for in color and cut. He did a wonderful job on my hair, I cannot begin to tell you how happy I was when I was transformed...my hair looked great and I felt amazing!! John is friendly, sweet and he knows his stuff. So do yourself a favor and go see him!!!

This is a great salon and great neighborhood!!

Thanks John, for making me feel and look beautiful = )

Hair Extraordinaire. Simply the best salon experience. Beautiful space, always feels relevant, hip while feeling warm and welcoming. Everyone is extremely friendly and accommodating but Anthony is my man. Magic hands. Great cuts that never get weird no matter how overgrown I let it get or what the bad hair day weather is. His genius is his color expertise. FABULOUS! I am always asked where I get my hair cut and colored, so I know I'm not delusional about how terrific he is. (Plus, he's got the most amazing blue eyes ).

Color Magnificents. If you want a colorist who is an artist, understanding the complexity of how hair glistens in light and absorbs color; this salon is for you!! All the stylists are adept in their profession. Anthony Gianzero with his partner, have built a salon that is unique, personable, warm, cozy and FUN.

Below mediocre. Got some good reviews from a friend and gave the salon a try... not remotely impressed, and left with a lousy haircut, very distressed. The place is nowhere near a high-end, professional salon.

1. Staff: slouching and chatting around and not paying attention to clients. I suppose they are aiming for a laid-back atmosphere but all I get is unprofessional and negligent, shampooing people and hairdressers alike. No effort was made to make clients feel comfortable, which indicates a lack of training and professionalism. 2. Decor: somewhat copied over a bar scene, with the receptionist being the bartender and all. That being said, the interior is really low-class. The space is cluttered with cheap furniture and mirrors intended to make the tiny space look big. Not working. And indeed there are babies in baby strollers present, which makes the salon feel like a grocery store. 3. The haircut: perfunctory, hasty, insouciant consultation and hence lots of miscommunication. The end result is exasperating; it is so bad that even the most composed person on earth has to go berserk. Another look in the mirror could make me depressed the whole day. I'm really ashamed of showing my face in public with such hairstyle, if we can call it one. The cut showed antiquated technique and questionable aesthetic. He even had the dasity to talk about how I could use some product to work my hair. That would just be lipstick on a pig. The hairdresser whisked away after doing the cut which righteously put him into shame. I guess these days if one spends less than 100, one is subject to miserable and low-budget service like this.

I'm getting my hair trimmed by my old hairdresser. I should never have betrayed him. And I curse the friend who recommended this salon.

Best kept secret in NYC.... Not only do I get fabulous highlights and cuts at Anthony Gianzero Salon, but it also has a fantastically friendly and beautiful atmosphere. It is also reasonably priced for a great NYC salon...

Tina ALWAYS does a great job with my hair. I have never left there unhappy in the 6 years I have been going there. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Gorgeous blonde. Anthony has been keeping me blonde for years - he is brilliant with color, and I frequently get compliments on my chic short cut. It's always a pleasure to spend a couple of hours in his chair, sipping white wine and gossiping about the stars!

Best Hair cuts - class A atmosphere - most welcoming salon in NYC. Recently my hair colorist John Carter (also an excellent stylist) joined this salon and I am thrilled. Everyone loves what he does with my hair and people stop me on the street to compliment me. As a side note, John has done a lot of wedding parties because designers like Vera Wang recommend him to their clients. He's talented, sweet, and extremely accommodating. There is another big plus for me because I have both my favorite hair stylists in the same salon - John does color, Fred does cuts and together I walk out looking like a million bucks but it didn't cost me anything like the really expensive salons. I am adding these comments to the following review I wrote a few years back so you can learn about Fred and Anthony Gianzero's fabulous salon by reading on.

I have recommended Fred Guerriero as a hair stylist and barber to many friends and everyone of them that went to Fred has become a loyal client. I followed Fred to Anthony Gianzero's salon from a previous salon which I'd been using for 3 or 4 years. And I am so glad I did. The friendly atmosphere and special touches like sweets, wine, beautiful floral arrangements, and smiles from everyone remind me of an elegant Japanese tea house yet informal. It could be your best friends house. It's a fun place where you'll also get a great style and cut. Yesterday I stopped by and Fred was cutting Anthony Gianzero's hair. He's been Anthony's barber for 12 years. I think that is a great testimonial to Fred. Absolute strangers have stopped me on the street to say they love my hair and ask where I have it cut.

I could go on but why not find out for yourself. Fred is the best!!!

Tina. Tina is a gifted artist. She can replicate any cut I explain or brilliantly design one of her own. I have never been disappointed. She is also a talented colorist. I would follow her to the ends of the earth!

dear shhhhh. just wanted to give a little feed back on the last review. first i want to say sorry if whomever shhhhh is that you were so unhappy with your haircut and service from me anthony gianzero. I have been in the business for 25 years and your review really called for a little feedback from me! First and foremost you stated in your review that 'if you were not such a nice person" that you would have "demanded" your money back! Well my personal opinion being the nice person that i am, if i was not happy with a service would have confronted the person in a "nice" way and came to an agreement as to what to do to make the situation more comfortable! That to me would have been the "nice" thing to do! Instead because of your unhappiness you "tried" to bad mouth someone from a bad experience you may have had! NOT SO NICE!

all the best shhhhhhh!

offensively poor quality service, outrageous waste of money. I went on several recommendations but got one of the sloppiest cuts of my life. Anthony spent less than 15 minutes on my hair and charged in excess of $100. The ends were blunt, he didn't touch my grown-out layers, the layers around my face had no style and were carelessly done. If I weren't more polite I would have demanded my money back on the spot. I would have gotten a better cut at Supercuts. Save your money and go elsewhere.
