Find Another Place. Medically, I got pretty good care, even if it was overkill and wasteful at times. I refused several tests because they were repetetive and even unnecessary (an IV bag of magnesium for a normal magnesium blood count?). But as a patient I felt very disregarded and even mistreated. All tests that were done in the emergency room were repeated after I was admitted, very wasteful and more important to me keeping me up for two hours after I got into my room. Two separate people came in with clipboards to ask me the same questions I already answered in emergency. Where are the electronic files, and the sharing of information? I finally fell asleep at around 1:00 a.m. only to be awakened at 2:00, 3:00 and 4:00 by loud talking outside of my room. Each time it took me a while to fall back asleep. The talking was either about work, or about movies they saw. At one point I stuck my head out and asked them to keep it down, but they looked at me like I was the crazy one. What, talk softly just for the patients who are sleeping in the middle of the night, are you nuts? At 5:00 a.m. they came in to work on my roommmate. At 5:30 a.m. they started on me. Al I did was catch naps all night and I was a wreck. I was there for severe GERD, so bad I thought I was having a heart attack, but they brought me orange juice and coffee in the morning. Does no one communicate with the kitchen about a medically appropriate meal? At one point there was a technician on either side of me taking my vitals and one starts telling the other one about a patient that died that morning in the next room, and how something kept running off of her and as often as he wiped it up it kept runinng. I didn't catch what that was and did not care to know. HOSPITALS DON'T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY. It would be relatively easy to fix most of the above, but my sense is that as long as they are collecting from your insurance they just don't give a damn.
MOST HORRIBLE NURSE AWARD!.
MOST HORRIBLE NURSE AWARD!
My grandmother was taken to this hospital yesterday after vomiting all night and morning. We entered the ER and things were being treated in a normal amount of time "which is long waits" and I had a terrible encounter with a wick nurse by the name of KAREN KEMPLER. My grandmother was attached to the IV bag and needed to use the restroom. Since I didn't want to tamper with anything I searched for assistance and asked the witch to help her detach the IV bag. This disgusting so called RN caught an stinking attitude and bad mouthed me to my family members, so I gave it right back to her. If she was having a bad day then that's her problem, don't it it out on the patients or visitors. She's probably the worse nursing personnel I have ever seen. Clearly, she's just there for a damn paycheck and as far as helping out people in need is none of her concern. From my observation she's not even doing her job correctly, instead she's sitting there half the time texting or playing with her cell phone, you call that a professional you are willing to leave ur sick family or friends with? She's a disgrace to the nursing profession!!! Nobody needs to see or deal with the wretched face and conduct she carries with her in the ER everyday. Beth Israel needs to do a better job supervising and training their employees in dealing with human beings in need of their help. Yea and KAREN KEMPLER, you deserve the MOST HORRIBLE NURSE AWARD! Take it and shove it up urs!
WORST OB-GYN EVER. The OB-GYN at Beth Israel is AWFUL. I have had to wait over 2 hours after a scheduled appointment to see a doctor for my annual. Most recently, I was told that they LOST MY PAP SMEAR RESULTS and I have to come back for yet another appointment. There was little apology or understanding as to why this may have been unacceptable. How do you LOSE someone's pap results??? They also would never have known had I not switched pharmacies, and needed my prescription updated. They had my last visit recorded incorrectly, and the testing they had done. Ridiculous, and completely unprofessional.
Maternity care is HORRIBLE..
My wife gave Birth in Beth Israel of NY (1st and & 16st) two weeks ago. Would like to share our experience.
While in delivery, staff was friendly and attentive. Doctor has done a great job in delivering a baby.
Things however have changed in nursery. In that place one hand has no idea what the other one is up to. They brought the baby to my wife and basically said she is now on her own. Even though she was not even well enough to go to the restroom by herself. She simply could not take care of the baby and cried all her tears out.
When they finally realized she is not bluffing, things actually got worse. Now we had doctors of all names and specialties coming in every hour "checking up on her". All this with no real help and 0 useful advise. What is the damn point of doctors / nurses waking her up in the middle of the night to check pulse and blood pressure? She was not dying. She had an intense experience and now needed some rest and care. But she got the opposite. Despite all the people around , there was NO ONE who could help her get up from bed and go to the restroom. She could not sleep or rest because of hospital stupidity. THEY FORGOT ABOUT HER BREAKFAST. And so she was hungry for half of the day until I could come and bring some food. I could keep on writing, but think it you've got the idea. I have not seen such idiotic organization in my entire life.
