Tips for Equinox

Good Gym and and Good Workouts. Equinox is one of the best gyms in NYC. I go there for my regular workouts 3 - 4 times per week. Thanks to the trainers and the machines, both weight machines and cardio, I get good workouts. It's convient to where I live, which makes it really important to me. Also, they have a variety of locations, so that if I'm at work or other places in the city, I can go to those other locations. The environment is good, the people that work there are all very helpful. I've even seen a number of celebrities there! How fun is that?

What are these people talking about. I'm not sure what the others are talking about. I have a membership which allows me to workout in all of their locations but spend most of my time at this one.

Phenominal classes, you must try Lacey on Wednesdays, Jon's Wedge Class and Impact I can go on.

I have never been in better shape nor have had so much fun doing it. I am in my 40's and have pretty much tried every gym in NYC. Totally worth the money.

too much money for nothing. Equinox charges you one of the highest rates. The running machines don't even have individual tvs! even crunch has it and charges you half the price! The people who work there are rude and incompetent! Its a complete waste of money.

Equinox at its worst!. This gym is consistently overcrowded.

Locker rooms and showers are dirty. (Shower stall doors in mens locker room not only took 7 weeks to be replaced, they now don't close fully and are flimsy.)

Soap/Shampoo Amenities are watered down and have a strange odor that they shouldn't have.

Dirty towels. Had to start bringing my own because I they were so dirty.

Too many personal trainers occupying floor space and equipment.

The only thing going for this place is the equipment - although they could at least replace the rubber grips on the equipment that use them...

Totally not worth the $160/month they're charging. Try another Equinox - the experience will be totally different.

Upscale, Zen-inspired gym catering to the fit professional.. The Scene
With its ultra-clean, minimalist décor and its topnotch staff, Equinox raises the bar for chain health clubs. At consistently spacious facilities, the design team continually maximizes natural light and highlights organic architectural quirks. Equipment from industry standards like Cybex and Hammerstrength are paired with high-end machinery--including one specifically designed for the company by Life Fitness. Even the piped-in music (which varies from room to room) has been thoughtfully programmed. Locker rooms are uniformly spotless.

The Workout
The in-house personal-training program--which approaches strength, balance and coordination in a cyclical pattern--is so highly regarded that some independent gyms recognize it in lieu of more established national certifications. Indeed, instructors in the top tier must have academic articles published in their area of expertise. Classes are offered round the clock and range from Spinning and yoga to more unique hybrids incorporating boxing and ballet. Many studios boast sprung floors.

Cleanest Facilities; BUT the showers are actually DRIZZLES, little or no air conditioning; UNHEALTHY HEAT AND HUMIDITY. Equinox should be renamed Paradox.

The facilities are the cleanest. The counter staff are friendly.

The showers should be called DRIZZLES because of their low water pressure.

The workout areas are so poorly air-conditioned that there are now FANS all over the place - The place is one BIG petri dish.

NO SAUNA!!! Only a steam room.

In a nutshell, it's STYLE over SUBSTANCE here; the joint LOOKS GREAT on paper and in photographs but when you actually work out there, the many structural flaws become apparent.

Unethical staff members... Watch out!!. I had a horrible experience with a salesperson at this gym. Not only was he incredibly pushy, but he was very deceptive about how to cancel your membership. General Manager was totally unhelpful too. They should be ashamed of themselves for treating customers like that.

I had to take them to Small Claims Court to get my money back, but I won!

Its A Joke. It's a wonder this place remains in business. The equipment is old and out dated. The trainers know less than I do. Good luck in trying to find anyone in charge.

Crowded Crowded Crowded. Great facilities, clean but way to busy during prime time (most of the time)
