The Scene
Many find their way into this loft above a liquor store, even with no bouncer and no sign. But finding the bathroom on a Saturday night proves a more difficult achievement: The line runs half the length of the bar. Formerly an illegal after-hours joint, the space packs them in, pumps them with DJ-spun grooves, primes them with cocktails poured by Urban Outfitters models and spits them out at last call. Young singles seem not to mind screaming introductions while being bumped from every side.
The Draw
It's kind of cool climbing the entry's flight of stairs, and the chandeliers, red lamps, living-room decor and standing mannequin behind the bar in a tawdry array of goodies set the mood for mischief. But does loud, buzzed and searching ever get old? Or does it just keep making money for East Village investors? Apparently the latter--and fans love every minute of it.

I've only been here once, so maybe my review is premature, but I REALLY don't see what the big deal is about this place. Yeah, it's cool that it's somewhat hidden, but does that really make it a good bar? The decor was nice but the place itself is small and mostly unoriginal. The crowd didn't seem that interested in being there either. It was pretty much one small rectangle with a couple of seats and a bar. Maybe if there was an event or a party or something, it could elevate the mood. I might go again just to give it another shot, but with so many places in the city to go (especially in this neighborhood) why would you bother?
Pros: I can't think of much.. the location maybe?

Haven't been to Ming's is a while, but, I was invited there for a friends birthday last week. Though a bit rougher around the edges then it used to be when it first opened 5 years ago the place was still packed. The music was kickin and apparently girls get up on the bar and dance every weekend. One girl was dancing on the pole and her boobie popped out...lol. The place went from being a lounge when it first opened to pretty much an all out mini club. Some people complain about the music being too loud and arrogant bartenders. This is New York baby if you don't like it then go to the movies on Friday night! Hail Ming's...at least they haven't forgotten how to party over there. Did I mention the girl whose boobie popped out!
Pros: great music, cool staff, pole dancing
Cons: long bathroom lines
